I'm in- I think. I have the music and inspiration. I just need to find a tune and lyrics.

Also. I call dibs on all anonymous/anomalous rhymes.
My other music is Old Time / shape note.

Here's your man. Niv is your pen to paper guy. While the offer lasts, he's song fights own personal Bernie Taupin......except with sideburns.
He wrote the lyrics for my "So Weird" song this week. I'm not sure who inspired who, but I'll have to say, my final production was built off of his lyrics. It came out pretty good in the time frame, I think.

FWIW, I know a bass/guitar player who independently "invented" B tuning. He did not listen to metal at all, and metal wasn't his motivation for doing it. I think he wanted to be able to play "bass" parts and guitar parts on the same instrument (he already used a bass amp for both bass and guitar), and he wanted to use really big strings so they wouldn't break very often but still be able to play lots of bends.

I think this is my favourite ever songfight title, I hope I can get something done in time for it (unfortunately I have plans at the weekend, so it's not a sure thing).

What the heck is B tuning, and how can I apply this technology to my ukulele?

I mean strings tuned down by a 4th. SO instead of E A D G B E, you get B E A D F# B.

Dissonance, bells, carnival melodies, odd percussions.

I'm in.

Anomaly. Sums it up.

I am still much more used to making ambient soundscapes than traditional songs, but it's fun to learn by doing (or failing to do) and by listening to the good jobs others do.

Finished. Expect picking that soars, underscored by banjo harmonics and really, really depressing lyrics about mental illness.
My other music is Old Time / shape note.

I'm in, with drumming by Jolly Roger.

Won't fit most people's definition of metal, per the "metal fight" being discussed up there, unless there are still some of those folks around who call anything loud metal. What it is, is 12-bar blues, Bo Diddley beats, neck- pickup GRRRRROWWWLLL, and Star Trek.

Damn, I'm looking forward to it. You and JR both rock, so this should be an interesting song.

Take950's entry submitted. That's me and JR on drums at current, though expansion is not ruled out. Lyrics this week by Niv.

I do not have a metal voice. We'll see how this goes.

Sadly, unless someone feels like stepping in at the last minute with guest vocals. lyrics and vocal-mixing, my half-finished piece of noise is going to have to remain unfinished. Ah well, nice title anyway!

Just a prelude - Zipline is back with polyrhythm hell . . .

Post by the_prisoner »

You know, the 11/8 just wouldn't be so damn hard if the guitar wasn't accenting the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 10th notes of the arpeggio! Damn, you'll just have to wait and see how this 2-hour songwriting fest ended up . . .

Awww, that's a shame. I was looking forward to a new Hostess Mostess song.

Well, I couldn't really pull off metal. So I went for digital hardcore. I don't have an 'i hate all authority' attitude to me though, so it might not work. Whatever.
