QOTD: Chaos or Order? Which is your comfortable creative space?

I'd say Chaos (stop laughing, Albatross). The studio's a mess, notes on music swirl around the page like random ant trails, and lyric sheets take advantage of my being able to read upside down, backwards, and all over the page.

Getting really tired of iTunes' constant updating. It's the bloatinator. But whoo-hoo! Fight deadline's extended to Monday.

QotD: It actually depends on the medium.

Chaos is where I write better music, cords strung everywhere, instruments laying on the ground, pedals laying on top of each other. However, Order provides me a more relaxed mental attitude where I can concentrate more on my lyrics--I don't know why, my mind is just at ease more. So, I write the music, clean my house, then write the lyrics... or just write the lyrics at work and the music at home.

QotD: I deal okay with my own chaos, but I tend to fall apart when subjected to anybody else's chaos, so I'm pretty much an "order" person. Although there are lyric sheets and cables and everything spread all over the studio, everything (of an informational nature, at least) is pretty well documented in the database and can be recreated at a momen't notice. And I have a very standardized way of recording - tracks 9/10 are the drums, 1 is the bass, 2 and 3 are the guitars, etc.

I had an idea for "Thank God for Memphis" this morning, and with the deadline extended a few days, I might just be in this one. It's the standard "truckdriver with a wife in one town and a girlfriend in another" country song, but it's coming out nicely, if you like that sorta thing. Drums, guitars and a first cut at the vocals are done, it'll need a little lead guitar break in the middle and a bass and another round of vocal tracking.

I desperately need organization in my life, but I'm what I like to call, "chaotically organized". Maybe that's one of the reasons I feel the need to put music on tape....errr, disc? It allows me to condense my mess into one tiny little compact mess that is neat, tidy and harmless, unless you light the metaphorical fuse (push play).

A mismatched group of bored suburbanites longing to escape the stress of their daily lives and embrace the freedom of the open road finds that it takes more than polished chrome and leather jackets to truly experience the biker lifestyle. Cool actors, Harley's and leather jackets. What's not to like? Renting it.
Vacancy - A vacationing couple makes a terrifying discovery about the motel room they have just checked into. OoooOo scary! Hold me. But it's got Luke Wilson, Kate Beckinsale, Frank Whaley, but still looks iffy. We shall see. Renting it.
The Look Out - A former high-school hockey star handicapped in a tragic car accident becomes an unlikely ally to a crack team of determined bank robbers. Jeff Daniels, Matthew Goode and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Joe's been drinking his milk. Yep, he's the kid from 3rd rock from the sun. Looks good. Renting it in time.
God Grew Tired of Us - A documentary of three young men that leave behind a land in chaos to find new lives in a thoroughly different culture. Never heard of any of these actors, but looks good. Renting it in time.
Fracture - A structural engineer (Anthony Hopkins) and an ambitious young district attorney (Ryan Gosling) become locked in a deadly battle of wits when the former is found innocent in the attempted murder of his wife. Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling, David Strathairn. Sounds pretty good, plus Anthony Mutha F**kin Hopkins! I wouldn't miss it for all the great big fat girl skin suits in China. Renting it immediately.

I have been spending the whole today listening to Podquiz. Then I tried to make a songfight version but using TTS voices is not good for trivia. But the idea still remains in my head.

I also finished up the 12th installment of Septemberian today. That's big news as when it's released, the idea is to release 2 installments a month. That means that I have finished half a year's worth of Septemberian.

QotD: It's pretty clear but that's because I have to frequently disassemble everything. Ever wonder why I'm so lo-fi and my sound quality lacks consistency...ta-da. There's your answer. I don't have a permanent work space. I always work like I've been travelling and decided to do a song on a computer in a hotel room.

Aqua Teen movie!? i've got to find this

What is the fascination with ATHF?! I watched like 10 episodes and I just couldn't get in to it I like the concept, but I felt the stories could have been a lot more interesting. The best one I can remember? The leprechaun/rainbow machine one.

perspective: So far as "adult" and "mature" toons I like Robot Chicken, South Park (and all their other work, even Cannibal! the Musical), TV Funhouse, Family Guy (UBER-GREAT), King of the Hill (but I only like moments of Beavis & Butthead), Moral Orel, Akira, and all the stuff by Hayao Miyazaki).

Don't really care for: Ren & Stimpy (did when I was a kid), that one with the metal band, most anime series.

ANSWER #1: On the computer it is order. I have a "songs" folder. Each song has its own folder that contains every WAV, take, and sample used, the lyrics TXT file, the final MP3, and anything else that might have been considered for inclusion, even if it was not included. Files have a consistent naming system. Each song starts with a folder "YYYYMMDD TITLE (extra details)". The takes are auto-named by Acid Pro and I name the other files the songtitle. Once I "finish" a song a "()" gets added at the beginning of the folder name. Then in the future, I listen to it again then categorize it in the () with "A-list" or "B-list". More categorizing goes into it, but I'll spare you the further details...

ANSWER #2: In real life, it is chaos. There is a pile of wires to the right of my computer. Oh, the computer desk is just covered in stuff from papers, vitamins, Wireless Router, "pocket papers" (theres a good fight title), CDs, Coke lids, and countless notes of reminders. My two guitars sit in various places in the room with no set storage place. To the right of the computer desk is the small mixer, mic & stand (it must be moved though, so I can record), pedals, spindles of CDRs, more pocket papers, and one of my 5.1 speakers (it fell down a few days ago and I haven't picked it up yet).

What else? Lunch today with the hot, flirty new receptionist. I have been working for this company for two and a half years, and finally they employ someone who I get along with enough to have lunch with them. I finally have a work gossip partner! Now I just need to get a hold of some gossip...
