Konnichiwa Songfighters. Roll Call.

I'm struggling to recover from a long weekend that included one day with the kids, one day doing yardwork and one day in the ER.

Question of the Day:
Who is your favorite artist? (painter, sculptor, etc.)

I still feel my shoulder after a cortisone shot last week for a torn rotator cuff. It's not constant anymore, but certain things really spike the pain then it sort of throbs. Jim had shoulder problems lately. How's that doing?

qotd: my sister, a painter, is one of my favorite artists. So is my brother, who's a pretty fun jewelry designer. They inspire me to no end.

I like Jim Dine and Wolf Kahn. We have a bunch of Kahns as my in-laws started buying his stuff in the 60s and they became friendly. Plus his summer house is near our place in VT and he has painted many scenes that are very familiar to me. He's a quirky man now and losing his sight, which must be like, well, torture.

My shoulder is much better, thank you. Taking it easy for a few days seemed to do the trick. Good thing, too, 'cause while things aren't exactly BUSY gig-wise, they're steady at least.

Today I'm working, and tonight I'd kind of like to record something. I've done cover songs for each of the past two nights; I'm on a roll. The latest SF title hasn't yet inspired me though. Tomorrow is the weekly Frenzy; maybe I'll just hold out for that.

QotD: Scott Mccloud came to mind first, so I'll go with that. Yeah. Safe to say that even if he doesn't produce my favorite art, he's still my favorite artist.

Why must the New Yorker of color suffer through the Jeffersons joke?

QotD: My wife draws incredibly well. But painter-wise, probably Thomas Kinkade.

Actually it was just a New Yorker thing, I'm color blind. But kudos for guessing it, lol.

My great-grandfather was a painter, and I have three of his oils and one pastel, and that's very exciting; I'm proud to have them. But he wasn't a famous master or anything, so let's say Caravaggio 'cause that's the first that came to mind.

Mailed off the demo this morning.

QOTD: Louis Wain comes to mind. Don't know the names of the graffiti artists of ±10,000 years ago, so I'll say Louis Wain.

QOTD: I won't lie and act like I know the names of modern artists. The only old-school artists I know about are the ones everybody knows about (Michaelangelo, Picasso, etc.)

Vincent van Gogh walks into a bar, and the bartender offers him a drink.

"No thank you," said Vincent. "I've got one 'ere."
