It's a free country and opinions are like assholes and all that "zany jive", but damn dude. He's doing the same thing here that we are all doing here, making music.

Hey BLT, thanks for the support. It did take a bunch of time and effort to make this, and it's great for someone to notice that.
But it's cool, after all, I was aiming for a Steve Taylor sound here, and the guy was definitely 80's. So that was a bad choice, and it looks like andrew WK would have been a better model. That's useful to know. I hope one day to win a fight, and this all points me in the right direction.

I'm gonna listen and vote now. But I thought I'd pipe in and suggest that the comments from the blood-soaked guy up there are genre bias and little else. I wouldn't give them much weight, especially when considering which 'direction' your song should take. Keep going in YOUR direction, man.

While I appreciate the support, and never discount a positive review, I can't really get behind gutsfuck's bashing of my competitor, especially with his song being as good as it is. I have no idea what a "nasty 80's douche kit" is, but whatever it is, keep using it. The Rage and I share a love for the music of the 1980's, as shown in this pre-SF masterpiece of his. But in any case, comparing Steve Taylor and Andrew WK is like comparing apples and steak. Neither style is inherently superior to the other. I would not have guessed that you were going for a Steve Taylor sound, but then again, I'm much more familiar with the 90's Steve Taylor, who has more resemblance to Howard Stern than David Bowie, and recorded a much more grunge and much less new wave version of "On The Fritz." Which I can't find. I had the Liver album, but it's disappeared. Damn it. But I love both versions, either way. I like anything by Steve Taylor, anything by Andrew WK, and so far, everything I've heard from Rufus & Beauclerc and Spinlock. Yes, this is a competition, but it's a celebration of music and musicians, regardless of the outcome. Both entries are solid adaptations of two solid styles. If you want to make an Andrew WK song, feel free, but don't do it because you think that's what people want to here. It is a somewhat limiting idiom to work in. We may have exhausted it, already. Steve Taylor (equally adept at new wave suave and hard rock stage dives), you, Mr. Rage, and I all seem to be pretty good musical chameleons, and we'd be foolish not to take advantage of it. Also, I'd like to second the call to hear some music from gutsfuck. Let's see you put your guitar where your mouth is.

You know, one of the best parts of songfighting is being able to improve and seeing other people improve too. If you want to come with a closed mind, hate an entire decade's worth of music and troll, it doesn't suggest you're going to grow much, musically.
BLT, JimTyrell LoO and Veg's opinions matter, because their music is good, they respect people and review thoughtfully. What a troll thinks doesn't count for anything. Put up or shut up.

Rufus & Beauclerc:
Fun song. I like what you did with the vocals. The wall of sound thing ain't my favourite style but you do it well. Couple of uneasy parts, for example on the transition from the intro to the verse, and the chorus to the verse. The ending is a bit sudden, but overall it's a really good effort. A pleasure fighting you, let's do this again sometime.

B. I was referring to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, quite different from nü-metal.

Neither 80's nor nü-metal get the respect they deserve. Although moreso with 80's. They're both easy targets for bashing, and I'm sick of hearing it, not only because I like a good deal of the music, but because it's so damned fashionable to engage in bashing of said styles.

I still like The Brazilian ... for different reasons though. Return Of The Giant Hogweed is a great song, to be sure. And of course, who could forget The Musical Box. That is an epic.

Rufus & Beauclerc - I appreciate the energy here. For some reason, I'm hearing this song in the style of Dethklok in my head. The guitars seem a bit buried in the mix and that appears to soften the driving impact that they should impart. Either way, this is a fun song, and it comes through that you had fun making it.

Spinlock - Mysterious sounding. I'm picturing a very 80's detective who keeps pulling down his sunglasses to check out his mark in the video for this one. Your voice here is great and the tone is perfect for the song. It's strange hearing a retro sounding number talk about DNA. I like the dichotomy.

Limbo fight sounds fun. If I had known about it and also hadn't been shopping for engagement rings this last weekend, I would have totally participated.
