Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

Konichiwa Songfighters. Roll Call.

It's gonna be a busy day for me. It's completely self imposed. I have a lot of work at the job, but I'm tacking on a lot of other stuff like researching the rock music scene in Africa and writing a couple of blogs I've been wanting to do over at the Fight Songs. Hopefully I can achieve all that I want to achieve.

QotD:
In this digital age, some of the visual art that goes along with music has begun to fade. Why put as much effort in album art when it's getting digitally downloaded and probably won't really get seen. It's kinda sad. I miss the visual aspects as I prefer things to be multimedia. Even things as simple as band logos are becoming things of the past. So my question today is What is your favorite band logo?

I'm at work. I've got to record some instrumental tracks tonight for a promotional video. I'm hoping I can fit in the Frenzy as well. We'll see.

QotD: My all-time favorite is probably that Grateful Dead one with the ambigram in it. I'm looking for a picture of it but haven't found one yet. Will update.

UPDATE: THIS is not the one I was thinking of, but it's still pretty cool.

qotd: I don't think Pink Floyd ever had one. Or at least not ONE particular logo. Kids in school used to etch the swansong symbol (Led Zeppelin) on all of their folders. I suppose Metallica's was the most popular at the school I went to. I personally don't have a favorite one.

<img src="http://www.ghosttowngridlock.com/pressk ... ot.06t.jpg" border="1">

Ghost Town Gridlock had one and it was hand painted. I needed to go into Photoshop and touch it up a little but never got around to it.

Yeah, I used to snivel when the art was shrunken down from vinyl LP days. Just imagine the over the top 70's with those covers containing real zippers and fold out legs with underpants inside them and all that. Ca-razy, man!

KISS, Dead Kennedys, are some classic logos. I've always enjoyed the Aerosmith one. The wings and A are OK, but I love that psychedelic lettering most.

Are there more Songfighters with band logos? If so, let's see them.

P.S.- Albatross,
Why do I enjoy so many of the songs in your "best of the worst" blog?

Because they are awesome! I enjoy those songs too, that's the idea. It's the albums they come from that I don't care for.

QOTD:
So many of my favorite old bands had great logos and album art. I still buy a new Misfits shirt every time I wear one out. I love the big giant skull logo on a black shirt.

We've never had a good logo for our band, but maybe it's time to come up with one. My friend is really good with the printshop designing stuff.

We did a lot of demos, but just had random crap on them. This is a scan of our only full length album cover.
FRONT note the hand on the right shoulder
BACK note the hand again from the back with a tattoo on the arm that says "second chance". hard to see because my scanner sucks.
The lava lamp looking letters were made by our friend Sandy who also did the art work. She was a big fan and came to all of our local gigs and was going to school to become a graphic artist of some sort. She now owns her own studio and does very well for herself. She cringes when she looks at her early work, but I think she has always been awesome.

So, UPS fucked up and delivered my routers to the wrong address (as best as I can tell, anyway; apartment front office people said that no UPS guy showed up yesterday morning at 10:15, and UPS insists it was delivered to my address, and I tend to believe my apartment management). They won't launch an investigation until TigerDirect contacts them. TigerDirect isn't well-known for good customer service. Should I just order the routers again, or hope that things get settled, or what?

That's the only one which came to mind at all.

I can't think of a logo.

Another frenzy has come and gone. I quite enjoyed this one, and 5 people turned out! The title was 'don't lie to me'

I have to go study for 2 midterms tomorrow. Peace!

My brakes are fixed now. Pics are to come. I was very excited about this, and was feeling very triumphant, until I realized that this had prevented me from participating in the fifth 55-Minute Frenzy. My sense of victory is now completely demolished.
