Hey there Songfighters,
I'm relaxing from a fun night last night. It was game night for my birthday and it was a blast. It was great to have my friends and family together. We played the Wii (Who knew Lucidia would have a natural affinity for the damn thing???), laughed at misheard lyrics, ate good food (Charly did a bang up job on the whole thing) and all together had fun. Now I'm spending the last day of my 20's doing chores and chilling with the wife. Tomorrow, Niv 30. (and I just learned that it's also Mo's b'day as well. How cool is that?)
Question of the Day:
It's way late in the day for a question of the day. So here's an easy one-
What's the last good thing you watched on TV?
QoTD: The wife & I recently finished watching "Jonestown: Paradise Lost". I'm fascinated by the story of the Jonestown Massacre so it was riveting TV.

Enjoying a slow day for the first time in about two weeks.
Interesting QOTD as I just finished watching a really great Who documentary on VH1 classic.

was it the kids are alright? that's an awesome movie!
easy question, the one show i make a point to catch is the sopranos on A&E. i never had HBO when it was on and i've been hooked now since they've been doing re-runs. sundays and wednesday nights.
that show was really worthy of all the hoopla.

QotD: probably the Chinese F1GP, Kimi Raikonen grabbing the world championship for Ferrari. In terms of "tv shows," umm... well, I guess I'm enjoying Chuck, Gossip Girl, NCIS and CSI:original this season.
Got back late last night from three days in Cananea, Mexico, doing construction work on a new church building down there. There's a guy from Alabama who has a team that comes out, and in two days (I'm told) lays a foundation and puts up a studs & steel building, about thirty by forty feet. Our church guys like doing electrical, insulation, drywall, that sort of construction stuff (in a land of no building codes or inspectors), so we spent the past three days putting in all the wiring and stapling all the insulation in place... I'll stop itching in a day or two. This was our first time staying in Mexico for one of these trips, usually we come back to the U.S. each night. Worked pretty well; it was lovely not to have to come back across the border, which usually takes an hour or more in Agua Prieta or San Luis Rio Colorado.
We'd like to go back and do the drywall, but we have to wait for the Mission Committee to rustle up a couple thousand dollars for materials. At one point, I was working on this project to do a CD with this guy who was the music leader at one of the churches in Mexico, sell a bunch of copies here in the U.S. and use the money for missions projects, but... it got complicated...

It's called "Amazing Story: The Journey of the Who" and goes from the pre-who Daltrey bands all the way through to "endless wire." Based mainly on archival footage and interviews with the band and important producers, managers, etc....jack wrote:was it the kids are alright? that's an awesome movie!

I played the latest Ratchet & Clank all day. Then I beat it. (I started it yesterday.) Then I started it the second time through on challenge mode, which is much harder. Holy cow is this game great. Definitely worth getting a PS3 for if you don't have one already and you liked the previous games in the series or just like action-platformers to begin with.

Hey, that's the new one, right? Last weekend we were at a B&B and were talking to the couple that were at breakfast... turns out the guy is the writer for that program, and he was going to NYC for the, uh, first screening party or whatever it's called. I think we recorded the show.Röss wrote:It's called "Amazing Story: The Journey of the Who" and goes from the pre-who Daltrey bands all the way through to "endless wire." Re:The Who show - yeah it's the new one - they're pushing the DVD release. But watch it on TV for free, it's really good.
I like Pushing Daisies, too, Chris. Best new series for sure.

I know this was yesterday but...
qotd: The Bucs beating the Cards. And unfortunately the Pats beating the Colts. Fun to watch anyways.
I spent the whole day soaking and cooking black beans, baking rice and jerk chicken while watching football. A slice of heaven if it weren't for the pesky On-Call customer phone calls sprinkled in there.

QoY: Saints over the Jags was a good game too. Pats/Colts was an interesting game to the end, at least. It's been a full morning of Pats fans up here complaining about how bad their team did and how awful the officiating was. Oh, and how everyone hates them. God help me if my favorite team ever goes 9-0. It sounds like a miserable time to me.

Yeah, they sound like genuine Yankees fans. The umpire can't see! He was save at third I swear it. Everybody hates us. (which is true) Then you look at the score and the Yankees would have won 13-2 or something. Fogedabouditjimtyrrell wrote:QoY: Saints over the Jags was a good game too. Pats fans have no room to complain. They didn't put a mean whoopin' on the Colts... just merely beat em? WELL THATS BECAUSE they were playing the OTHER UNDEFEATED TEAM IN THE N EFFING L.
Colts all the way. Pats are merely a stumble on their way.
Bucs all.... ha ha ha.. I can't finish that with a strait face.

Surreal. I think it is most like an american TV version of "Magical Realism" like in "Like Water for Chocolate"Billy's Little Trip wrote:I wasn't expecting much when I first saw it, but I love the concept, characters and that....that something I cant put my finger on. I never answered the question... I too enjoyed watching football, Bills win!
But then I watched that other game and did not enjoy the outcome.
But after that, I saw The Tick vs. Reno, Nevada and all was well.

Yes, magical realism, right on the money. I've never seen "Like Water For Chocolate", but I was thinking of "Big Fish"Röss wrote:Surreal.
