Big fan of the Decembrists. Picaresque is a great record. I totally enjoy the theatrical aspect of their music. His lyrics are very troubadeur, gypsy, and stage like while the group stays very tight in the pocket.

I've been checking out lately the record by Seu Jorge. He's the dude from The Life Aquatic etc. Some interesting Latin-y Portuguese numbers of famous tunes. Fun stuff.

I've also been listening to Twelve Golden Country Greats by Ween.

That's such a good album. "Help Me Scrape the Mucous Off My Brain," hahaha. Transcends parody/novelty/all of that and is just amazing.

I'm a big fan of Fluffy. The song I mean.

I dunno why I've bothered listening to any electronica apart from Aphex really, seeing as he pretty much invented everything ever. but there's still an awful lot of his I've not heard. And whenever I hear another album I end up thinking "this sounds a bit like.....I mean, so he influenced them too!'


oh yeah, and Taylor Deupree +Eisi - Every Still Day I've been diggin a lot lately. I listened to it when I finished my book* today and nearly cried.

I love The Silver Apples I have Silver Apples, and Contact, and love both.

I'm curently listening to The Information by Beck.

I have all 3 Camera Obscura albums,but have only gotten around to listening to the first and dug it.

And I'm trying to get back into Zappa I have a lot of albums of his that I either haven't listened to in quite a while or at all.

Oh and I just got Drums of Passion, but haven't listened to the whole thing yet.

I get into trouble with myself when it comes to albums and books. I have a huge list of both to get around to and keep adding to it.

I've been trying not to, but I've been falling in music love with Nellie McKay. She just writes such damn good songs without being too cutesy about it, but also being cutesy enough. Sharp as a god damn razor-edged tack, she is.

Ah, yes. The first song that I played on the <a href="http://esc67.midphase.com/%7Espewsch1/p ... m3u">first episode of the House of Delusions podcast</a>. Part of me misses putting that together every week, but I do have more free time now that I don't. I also think it ended at a good time, because I felt like it was dangerously close to being a half-hearted effort on my part. I didn't want that to happen.

This was Jason Falkner's project after the first Jellyfish album. If you're already familiar with Jellyfish, that will make sense when you hear this song.

I love how the guitar follows his voice in the chorus section. I remember hearing this song a couple of times on the radio, and catching the tail-end of the video on MTV, but somehow I missed the credits that would have told me who it was.

This was one of those songs that would get caught in my sub-conscious, and I couldn't remember any lyrics to help me identify it. Particularly that chorus. I figured that this would be a song I would never be able to identify.

Then I went to see my friends play an acoustic gig, and this song came over the speakers during one of their breaks. Needless to say, I excitedly asked who it was, and thanks to Doug Smith, I finally had a name to go with the elusive melody.

Jarvis' new album 'Jarvis' is pretty sweet. 'Black magic' is particularly striking me - catchy melody, only with the craziest arrangement this side of Bowie at his pop-barmiest. I will probably write a review of the album on m'blog tomorrow, but for now, yes.

I'm listening to Sunn O))) for the first time in a couple months. They made me fall in love with music again. Honestly doom metal is the most exciting prospect for me musically these days.

Since I joined Song Fight two weeks ago, I've only been listening to SF member songs. I'm blown away by the uniqueness of some of the members here. Unfortunately I think some of the songs can only be appreciated by other musicians, but that works for me. I obviously love Paco's arrangement and guitar work. I made a whole cd of just Paco Del Stinko. Luke Henley featuring sdurnd is an alluring tune that I find myself skipping ahead to when I pop in my mix cd. I've since burned numerous LH tunes, folksy yet completely on it's own. Bjam has such a soothing voice and simple guitar style that I actually relax a little bit when I listen to her music. I love Brad Sucks bad attraction song. After learning more about him, I'm intrigued by his story almost as much as his Beck Henson style. Octothorpe makes me want to kick back in bean bag chairs on a Sunday night with a friend in a room only lit by the stereo glow and a big fat doob rolled in one of those Cheech and Chong Big bamboo papers. 8)
So many others that I could go on for seconds....possibly minutes.

Dude, Sunn O))) (and Boris, etc) are so massively overrated. They put out absurdly limited releases to build hype and hipsters bought it and labeled them THEE GODS OV DOOOOOOM, ignoring the rich history of the doom/sludge/drone genres. Go buy Turbulent Times by Grief, Dopesick by Eyehategod and Earth 2 by Earth.
