Sure you can be in hujhax. You may not have songfought in a while but you've been here for quite a long time. It should be ok.
And welcome JoS.
PS- how could you think you were the only Dada fan? "Dim" and "Dizz Knee Land" were big indie rock hits back in the day.

I too like Dada, though I've had a hard time finding their stuff, until Glenn donated some to me.

Yeah, that was their first album, and they've come out with 4 more since then, and who's heard of them since DIzz Knee Land, (which was a pretty crappy Dada song, BTW)?
3 songs chosen, 1 to go. I have an indie rock ballad, a Motown classic and a duet from a musical so far.

2. Steely Dan - Pearl of the Quarter
3. Juliana Hatfield - Close your eyes
4. INXS - The loved one
ROCK!
Glenn (DR FUNK)
Hate to be pedantic, but The Loved One was actually originally done by the wonderful Australian band from the 60's, The Loved Ones.
While the INXS version is a sensational cover - the original is very raw and very cool. It's probably hard to find over your side of the ditch, so if you haven't heard it Glenn, let me know and I'll dig up an mp3 of it for you.

I came across them by accident, after they released their self-titled (the one with studio shine, for better or worse). My girlfriend wrote some music articles for the college paper, and that CD was on her stack. Between that and some hefty cdnow.com couponage, I collected the older stuff. Never heard them on the radio, or anywhere else really. Though I did find some vinyl and CD singles in some used CD stores.
They have a new CD, remasters with bonus tracks (some of which existed before, but unmastered), and a live album now too. Not a huge fan of the new CD, and haven't heard the remastered flavor yet. Also, I say CD a lot.

Oh man. I came this ("") close to including "Tell Me You Love Me" by the same. Seems like Zappa hasn't seen enough exposure around here. Glad to see you, um, exposing.

well, when i was thinking about it, it had me thinking about how eddie bangs, abombinominous, or hoblit specifically might pull this off
hell, there's so much zappa i'd love to see covered. anything from overnite sensation would be great. stinkfoot, uncle remus, just too many to list...
zappa coverfight!

i regret to inform the songfight community that i will not have time to participate in this project. that's why i'm backing out now rather than after the assignments have been given. i will edit my list out on my original post.

dear kind and benevolent GOM organizers, it would totally be the highlight of my life if i got eddie's list. that is all.
nevermind.. i will be happy with whatever i end up with.
but i do want to point out i'm sad to see dan drop out of participating, but i am glad to see him do it now, unlike certain people who shall remain nameless who have just wussed out on covers for things like this in the past. or coverfight or whatever.

Niveous wrote:That's a difficult one. If someone gets you- you're going to have to give them not only MP3's of the songs but lyrics as well.
MY advice to you- you'll get better results with songs in English.
Hmm.. I think i'll switch one of the japanese songs for an english one. Providing lyrics isn't a problem. That'll leave 2 english lyric songs, 1 Japanese and 1 German. In case someone feels adventurous. I'll post links to the lyrics and mp3s as soon as I remember to rip the cds at home.
or i might just change them altogether.. damn it's even harder to decide than originally..
I think my final list will be:
1. 1000 Weiße Lilien by Welle:Erdball *German
2. Orugooru by MUCC *Japanese
3. Legion - VNV Nation
4. Fall of Man by Arcturus
EDIT: I'll stick mp3s and such here:

good one. do you listen to ulver as well?
Of course! both their older black metal stuff and the newer trippy electronic/atmospheric stuff they do now. Garm is like unto a deity to me, or whatever name he goes by nowadays.
Which makes me realise i havent checked to see what he's been upto lately. *goes and looks*
Deadline?

I keep meaning to get my list of songs together, and keep putting it off. Is there some kind of deadline on getting the list posted? I am entirely too lazy to comb thru the thread, like I know I should, and see.
Fuck, I'm lazy. I should, ya' know, play Songfight again, or something...
