So, Glenn/Niv, would you prefer we specifically keep these secret until the big reveal each month, or can we post sneak previews etc should we be so inclined? Not that I am finished yet, but i was curious ...

Well, jeez, you could have said so when I posted the Roadworthy track. Now I've got to go edit my link away.

Update: I've now got tunes for two titles: "Baby" and now, "My Love Is Forever". I could really use some instrumentation/drums/mixing. ;) Ya don't have to *write* a song to *right* a song!

EDIT: Make that THREE tunes. I just wrote "Just As Long As We're Together". Boy, my capo is REALLY getting a workout here!

OK so I've almost finished my 'My Love Is Forever'. I have a sneaking suspicion it's crap.

Regardless, continuing my usual 'run before you can walk' approach to making my music, I have decided it will be the first song on Pinky & the Truscaderos' 'Poisoned Purple Bubblegum' album. (alternatively if either name is taken, I will be masquerading as The Leather Truscaderos or call the album 'Act Your Shoe-size'- you get the idea). I have even taken a sneaky peak at the tracklisting for 'Prince' to get ahead of myself.

I so princey.

Oh man. I was so on the fence about this whole project, just saw some cool titles, and the parody-by-remote idea was cool. But now my interest is piqued. Now I can see establishing an entirely independent parallel universe, based on but avoiding direct association with the Purple One. People in costume that "resemble" him. Album covers that make it oh-so-close-to-a-symbol-cover. And of course songs with the titles. Collaborate with those fan sites some how.

"I can't believe it's not butter" comes to mind for an over-all project title.

Hey, short aside, the Prince story is all over the front page of The Guardian today, making his small, pointy shoe-dness out to be a right little bully.

Mine is getting out of control. I'd sue someone over it. I hope to finish it Saturday night.

Add "Crazy You" to my list of now 4 songs written, but in need of a band, drums, production, etc.... Oh, and if no one uses my lyrics for "Soft and Wet", perhaps I will try something Morrison-esque with it once I've gotten the rest of the songs written and recorded.

Finished sending one in for Just as Long as We're Together. It sounds strangely homo-erotic in places, for some reason.

Wow...you guys know this is due November 30, not October 30, right? I've never seen such unbridled motivation from the SongFight set.

I've kept out of the whole debate because I really believe Prince has every right to limit the use of his copyrighted songs. (If I wrote When Doves Cry, I wouldn't want some piece of crap band posting their version all over YouTube either, but that's just me.) And I think some people (Glenn) got a little carried away with the "this is exactly what's wrong with the record industry" stuff--Prince wanting to retain control over his own copyrighted work isn't even remotely close to what's ruining the recording industry, in my opinion. But, having said all that, sending cease and desist letters to fansites because they posted pictures of you that they took themselves is pretty stupid. This seems like very odd behavior for someone whose career was kind of on an upswing.

i'm beginning to think that this is another example of prince playing the media. look at how much the media has picked up on this story the past week. it's everywhere. people are all up in arms. and talking about prince. talk about publicity.

prince is no dummy. and he's always been one step ahead of the curve. lets see if he backs down from this nonsense and everyone will love him again and he'll pull a radiohead and give his next album away free on the internet.

side note: i love how his fansites have grouped together under the name PFU.

FU indeed. :)
