I must say I waited until crunch time, as well. I have been ridiculously busy at work, Mad Dog is in California, and the PWs were unavailable to back me up. That and I haven't done a tracked studio recording in, well... a long time. Add it all up and for some reason, I was hard pressed to start the thing. Nervous, I guess. Well, I'm glad I did it, I had a blast. Thanks, Nur Ein, even if we get kicked out in this round.

I am not sure if there is already a rule in place for this, but I think it should be setup so that if Round Zero of Nur Ein only gets 25 entries or less, those entries automatically become the Round 1 entries. It seems like it would be a big waste to not use 25 (or however many) songs that were submitted.

If there is no such rule in place, it should not be created now, ex post facto. If someone DID in fact yell out a Movie Star Name and that's it, and there are 25 or fewer entries, they should be in, because those were the rules in place at the time they did it. They took their chances, and they should either live or die by the rules.

Spud - Yes, I see your point about changing the rules after the contest has already started. But, maybe it is a rule that should be considered for next year.

The jury is actually hoping for a Jute Gyte sludge rocker where in the middle he just starts screaming "Betty White". That would be epic.

Well I'm busting out my some-time rap skills for round zero. My song also has trumpets, key mashing and moody electro-bass, so chances are it won't go down well. But game on! anyway.

Ross - Your lyrics of:
"I asked my neighbor Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, too They said to spend and spend to prove my patriociticity"
made me laugh out loud (the rest of the lyrics were good too).

That would be entirely different, and quite reasonable.

Ha, I was just reading through those too! Paco's is pretty good, I like yours too. I really liked Frankie's and King A's as well.

I just realized something. I'm going to be out of town May 23rd - 28th...so here's hoping that I'm eliminated before that or that week's challenge / title will allow for an acoustic ditty.

It's an unprecented occurance as we have less than 25 songs going into Round Zero of the Nur Ein. We have decided to use this as the warm-up round. All 22 bands advance into the Nur Ein. These songs will be judged by the jury but there will be no eliminations.

Seeing as there are 3 less bands this year, we are going to switch up the number of eliminations slightly:

Round One:
Monday May 5th to Tuesday May 13th
Songs due on Saturday
22 bands, 5 eliminations

Round Two:

Are you saying I could have strummed C7/F7/G7 and sung 'Tom Cruise is gay... KICKSTART!' and still made it in? DAMMIT.

You know what. A song about Tom Cruise would be hilarious to me. If you can get me one and make it funny (and include Kick Start of course) within the next four hours, I bet the jury would be willing to consider your entry into the Nur Ein. (Though I would have to confirm with the other jurors)

As far as late entrants - I think that's kind and all - but doesn't seem like it's fair (for lack of a better word) compared to those of us who pushed through and did it on time.

And nothing personal Mark (with an umlaut).

My two bits.

[edit: I would not characterize my view as feeling screwed]

I'm in favor of a tiny bit of leniency about the deadline if it actually brings the number of participants up, but on the other hand I don't want the folks who submitted in time to feel screwed. It's a tough situation.
