Well put, Des - thanks. I'm still going to try all of it from scratch.
P.S. - I hope I'm not coming off as 'snippy' here, as I am nowhere near being so. Peace!

I'm hoping to create 12 albums this year, so if I'm able to finish an RPM, and FAWM and an AAD, I can knock three of them out in one month.
In other words, I am going for it.
ROCK!

Good choice, JR.
I think the FAWM would be great for encouraging creativity, i.e. get the juices flowing so you're in good shape at the end of February to finish the album you've always wanted to.
I don't think the goal is to just crank out a bunch of crap just to be able to say you cranked out a bunch of crap. I can't believe if you did it all at once that there would be a whole lot of quality. Quantity, yes, but not quality. Unless quantity is all you're after, I'd spend the time on one project. Completely my opinion, of course.

Hey Glenn, are one of those dozen albums gonna be the one for your SF! Live Boston fund raising effort that was on hold from being neighbour'd with un-fun music-hatin' folks? Here's hoping.....

*nods*
Yes, in fact! I apologize for how late it is too. It seems like I keep getting happy with where I am at musically, only to learn new techniques and look at my back catalog as a bunch of crap. It's like a mental block of some sort, I have no problem cranking out songs when I know that I'll be putting them up for free download, but when it comes to making an album that is worth money? I tend to freeze up, not wanting to release it until it is absolutely perfect. This project has suffered from my own expectations of how good it must be.
I am particularly insecure about my mixdowns, so I've got Puce taking care of the mixing and mastering for this one.
As far as I am concerned, the people who tried to send us to Boston in '05 will have their choice of any of the albums that I create, but this particular 12 song project is going to get a lot of my time and effort. I really want to make this one an album that I won't be embarrased by in a couple of years.
ROCK!

1. I love to write lyrics.
2. I hate to produce.
3. FAWM sounds like fun.
Well here's an idea. I'll write lyrics for someone else. Any takers?

Definitely. I'll also be writing for Zipline but I wouldn't want to miss a chance to write for C(x). Hopefully my lyrics won't bring down your stellar stuff.

Paco Del Stinko wrote:Can anyone FAWM, RPM, and Songfight in 28 days? That's 14 songs, plus 10 songs (or 35 minutes of material), plus 2-3 SF titles? Just about a song a day for a short month. A sizeable challenge, mustering energetic performances of stripped down songs might be the ticket to any success. I am not afraid to stink on a large scale - why not go big?
Anyone else want to give it a go? Most completed 'wins'. If you can do an album a day, certainly two albums in a month is attainable. Easy math, right?
Convalescence is due 2/1. Ready?
I'm working on a submission, and readying the recording room for the February blitzkrieg. Gonna give it my best shot.

I will have Convalescence mixed and mailed later today. Tomorrow the recording capsule gets a slight re-arrange and we're off. I'm looking forward to all of this insanity very much. I have a rough idea as to how I'm going to approach it all, but nothing pre-packaged. Yee-haw!

Given his AAD history I'm guessing one Aussie in particular might.

I'm enjoying the FAWM already. Got on the train this morning and spent the time joyfully writing lyrics. Having to write for others has given me a well needed kick in the ass when it comes to my songwriting.

I've signed up, I'm half-way through the first track, all the lyrics are written and instrumentation is about there(ish), question though to all you die hard FAWMers, can i also post tracks up on somesongs as I do them or is that taboo? and do i have to send the tracks to the fawm site as they're finished or can i leave them all till nearly the end and send them up en masse? or should i just go and read a faq!

Ya, you can post them wherever you want, whenever you want. FAWM is about the writing, not the recording ... A lot of people don't bother posting (or even making) recordings at all.

I'm FAWMing as Citizen Six. Instrumental stuff using some Tapegerm loops.
