Re: The 7th Annual Gift of Music
Hmm, looks like I'm double-late. Been kinda busy and stuff. Well, I'm gonna make up a list right quick, and if I made it in, I'll post links to as much stuff as I have.
The National - Lit Up
My Morning Jacket - Sec Walkin
Fall Out Boy - Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes
AFI - Darling, I Want to Destroy You
EDIT: Weren't there more late lists? The auxiliary group whatever thing is going to suck if everybody drops out in weird, quiet fashion. LIEK, WUT. I think I'm gonna try to make Bratwrust or something.

Re: The 7th Annual Gift of Music
When you do assign the stragglers, I suggest picking random choices in order and have A do B, B do C, C do D, and D do A. That way you avoid the problem of pairing off or self-covers. (This is also a provably-correct way to assign random covers for the larger collection of participants which similarly avoids local cycles and "oops gotta cover myself" sorts of things.) It is counterintuitive but it ends up maximizing the transitive distance than simply going down the list of gifters and picking a random remaining recipient.
I mean, if you care about that sort of thing.

If there's a prize for fastest songfighter, I just rang the bell. Eat my dust

Re: The 7th Annual Gift of Music
If there was, I totally would have won it! Actually, several of us have done sidefights where we had less than an hour to write, record, and submit a tune. Oddly, some of my best submissions have come from that. :{D2dogs wrote:If there's a prize for fastest songfighter, I just rang the bell. Eat my dust

Bang on Wages and Fluffy. The best ones do seem to come together quickly. And of course there's no prize but it was fun to poke the cage

Re: The 7th Annual Gift of Music
Oh, no, I haven't even started recording mine yet (although I know what I'm going to do). I was just saying, there's no prize for fastest. Bully on you if you can manage to do your gift recipient justice in such a short time though.

Re: The 7th Annual Gift of Music
Lets just say that I spared no expense to provide the recipient with a most unique gift. The short time span was a fluke. It just came together that way. Now all I have left to do is the video production. If the deadline is still early January, I'm hoping that'll give me enough time to do it justice.

Post a list anyway, maybe some benefactor will be generous towards a latecomer with excellent taste.anti-m wrote:Aw fuck.

When is the due date? I looked on the OP, and scanned a few pages. Last time I remember it being in January.

Heh. Will do. I'll also undertake to un-stiff one of this year's stiffees. (Not that anyone will be stiffed this year, I'm sure.)Paco Del Stinko wrote:Post a list anyway, maybe some benefactor will be generous towards a latecomer with excellent taste.
I can't believe I missed the deadline. I'm such a spaceman.
