Kelly Clarkson's "My December"

I was curious about this album since she's been fighting with her record company over the release. They complained it's not as good as her previous one and lacks all the pop hooks. She fought because it was finally an album where she wrote all the songs and she wanted to put out something different. All that plus it includes Mike Watt on bass. I figured it was worth a try, so I got an early listen and it's not too bad.

Family Reunion was one of the first songs by a punk/punkrock band my friend Brittany made me listen to. I laughed so hard I cried. And the best part is, this was the cd she had me listen to. The ending is the best part, though the whole song kicks ass.

I love these guys. The damn Aussies have me hooked again. I think I like these guys so much because they are doing the stuff I like to do with a classic hard rock with a 21st century vibe. I like Jet too, but they just sound a little too much like an AC/DC cover band to me, which is ok, but copied.

...by the way, Mike Patton had one hit and he sucks anyway. Well, he doesn't suck, but he's never impressed me. I liked him better with Mr. Bungle than Faith No More though.

Mike Patton is a freakin' legend, dude. N/M Faith no More, or Mr Bungle- think Fantomas, (with none other than Dave Lombardo and Buzz Osborne) and Tomahawk. As well as, of course, FNM and Bungle.

The new album by The Enemy - which is good, quite inventive in some of the arrangements which plays off against the early-Jam-esque punk pop nicely. The lyrics ... well I enjoy the passion of these teenagers' politics but 'It's not OK / To be a slave' is hardly searin social commentary, is it? Still, reccommended.

Even if all Patton ever had done was the California (Mr. Bungle) album, he'd still get genius status with me.

Wolfmother is pretty much just more of the same, but far be it from me to point fingers over that.

Anybody heard of Lavender Diamond? I heard their song "Oh No" on the radio and thought it was cool. Not sure if I want to buy their album, though.

Yes! I got a demo from my friend with 4 songs on it promoting "We live and die in these towns". I don't know if the CD dropped yet, but if the album is anything like the demo, I'd like to hear the rest. I don't know much about the band, but it's nice to hear guitar again. The song "It's Not Ok" is on the demo and it kicks ass.

Hah! I just heard them for the first time on Studio 360 just the other day (because I'm hopelessly uncool and listen primarily to PUBLIC radio.)

I was also struck that they sounded like they'd be worth checking out. They're an LA band, evidently?

This guy recently put all his albums up for free download. I'm just finishing up the first one listed, but it's great atmospheric "experimental" electronic stuff.
