Turn the Power On: hmm, looks suspiciously Spinal Tap's Smell the Glove

Man Speaking German: hee hee. Though it would've been funnier if he was saying something really stupid, like "My cat's breat smells like cat food."

Snow Fort: love it!!! Great use of cyan.

Ms. Hale has again done spectacularly well, this time auf Deutsch.

I'm loving Tank Top... it's just funny and good to see the fightmasters pimping out the songfight-wear.

German: is nice this week, but it looks like she is in love with his tie instead of him. Don't get me wrong, I really like the overall look and feel of the drawing, very well done. I like how you are establishing characters. This guy reminds me of the 1000 Words guy, is he the same character? If so, I like that. Have you thought about (or considered) doing a multiple frame cartoon for a cover, kind of like your "Who I am?" stripe or the stuff on your website, but doing it in a square format of course? Because I think that would be really cool. By the way: I love the image of the girl drinking the soda on the main page of your site.

Turn on the Power: Simple, yet effective.

Snow Fort it was fun to do another sort of related cover to a previous cover that I have done (When It Snowed). I enjoy doing the pixel art, but man does it take forever to do.

--------

Fun titles for next week. I'm excited!

although they are all good, i have to say my favorite cover this week is denyer's. brilliant in it's understated obviousness.

and i forgot about the obvious spinal tap reference but that made me laugh too.

That's why it's a favorite of mine. Good old-fashioned craftsmanship is something you don't see as much these days.

Denyer's is very funny.
Snow Fort reminds me of that Windows snowball fight game you could download a couple of years ago.

At work, came across an image that was wrong on so many levels, had to use it (tweaked and modified a bit, but its initial wrongness still shining through) as a cover for Our Love &c., &c. Errr, enjoy?

Heh, me neither. My vote's for intestines and other organs (though the art came from a county food handling pamphlet, so I seriously doubt that's the case. I mean, Oregon's weird and all, but that weird?), but that's just me.

I like:
Our Love Violates Corporate Policy - nice cover. What gave you the idea behind this one?

Devils Live In A Quiet Pond - love the blue. Where did you take the photo?

Not my thing:
Me the Merciless - I'm just not getting into the layout, color, and the theme of this one. Sorry.

Note about mine:
I wanted it to be raw and a little dark. I also wanted to have some fun with it and try to include other covers from my past. There are 3 old covers included in my design.

re: OLVCP - personally when i saw it i thought it resembles those stupid signs that companies have with the pseudo-stick people showing what is/isn't permissible. i'm not entirely sure what all the diagrams are depicting, though.

re: PB - at first glance, i was thinking, wow this is a pretty literal interpretation for Bort, but it's a pretty awesome picture. i didn't even notice the hidden images until you mentioned them here. even though the Gin one in particular is pretty blatant. very cool.

Systematic Panic : So cute! I adore it, in a "I'd use that for a mix CD cover" kinda way, which is, y'know, yeah.

Everybody Now : Bright! And cool. Who is that? What are they singing, I wanna join in!

Let's Go Boy : It is scary! Is that man in the hat yelling at me? I like it, Bort. You are the bee's knees.

Pig Sticker : This one's my fave. It is super neat. Nice job, Bottleknife.

All in all, I've really enjoyed the cover art for the last few time cycle thingies. I've been lurking and such, and the art has been hella neat. Thanks to all the artists.

I'd like to mention, as per glamse's "Me the Merciless" last week--did you or did you not base that face on Edward James Olmos? Because I have to know, now, whether I am just a huge nerd or what (hint: the answer is not "no").

I thought this was a pretty good entry, though I can see the style turned a few people off. It doesn't portray an obvious message, really, but I like that.

Bottleknife's entries, by comparison have routinely been neat and orderly, but they tend to convey the single most obvious message possible. Usually it's a photograph (googled?) with the title of the song photoshopped over the image. The "OLVCP" art could've been amusing, I think, but I kept looking for a hidden joke and not finding it. If I'm missing out, please inform me.

EDIT: his Pig Sticker is quite good, however.

I submitted my Systematic Panic Design on a T-shirt to the http://www.threadless.com contest.

http://www.threadless.com/submission/36 ... atic_Panic

So if you are a Threadless user you can vote on the shirt.

If it gets a high enough vote count and people say they would buy it, the Threadless group would print the design for all to buy.

Enjoy!
