What bugs me about the new U2 is how Bono yells at the beinning "Unos, dos, tres, quatorze!" ...1, 2, 3, 14?

I'm totally into XTC - Apple Venus, Vol. 1 right now.

Scissor Sisters, followed by Tangerine Dream.

(I must be getting old. 10 years ago this kind of stuff was what your parents used to listen to if they'd been faintly 'progressive' in their youth.)

Apple Venus Vol. I is an incredible album. I just was listening to Vol. II and I'm having a difficult time getting into it, maybe I'll listen to it again tomorrow.

Now I am listening to the new Tom Waits album.
Yes, I took it back to the store and exchanged it for one with a CD inside.
Anyway, it's cool. It feels like a continuation of the "weird" atmosphere of albums like Bone Machine, rather than something more like the last album (I think that was Mule Variations). However, listening at work I feel like the mix is kind of wonky, the vocals seem to be lower in the mix than I expect.
Good so far, though.

Apple Venus Vol. 2 (Wasp Star) didn't resonate with me as strongly as volume 1 did. There's a few good moments, but volume 1 is the real keeper.
Plus, I met Andy Partridge when vol. 1 came out and he signed my copy of it. Sweet.

Apple Venus volume One is better than Volume Two for sure.
"I can't Own Her" and "Harvest Festival" in particular amaze me on AV1.
I remember for a while there was a possibility of an XTC coverfight but it kind of fizzled out in favor of Devo/Country.
Hehe.
Well its good to see some XTC fans around for sure.

Its amazing, its live, so at the Transformers reference the geeky TMBG fans scream amazingly loud. Its off of "The Spine Hits the Road" and was actually recorded this summer.

yeah it sure was, when i saw them do it.
although there was no spontaneous 80's robot toy lyrics thrown in, it was mostly pretty faithful to the album version.

(it was at carnegie mellon university, and being a place full of college students in the middle of a big city, they told everyone they had really serious and important advice to give, and they needed everyone's attention while they explained this. and proceeded to do that song (i don't know the title) that says to never cross the street in the middle of the block. which was fabulous. and as a "reward" for putting up with that bit of education, they then went into fingertips.)

My Flans interjections were delivered as he lay on the floor pretending to die. We got "Girl, you know it's true" and gangster hand signs.

He must not have been into it when I saw them. They were completely faithful to the album version. Except for the last part, where they launched into the power ballad finale. Ohhhhhhhh rock on.

I thought I'd be able to post that this kicks ass. The first song I heard was awesome: ballsy and superdriven. However, 4 songs in and I'm disappointed. The world does NOT need a heavy version of Presidents of the USA. Same setup, drums and bass only, with the occasional bit of synthesizer. Lots heavier. And after 4 songs, somehow more boringer.

It's a novelty until your brain reaches back through the catalogue to make the comparisson with PotUSA, and then you see it for what it is. Pretty unimaginative.

A good friend from when I went to Capital introduced me to Muse. I like them.
