I'll be doing a 'solo' set, rocking out on an acoustic guitar, so you won't be alone. I might have extra vocalists or have someone else playing guitar on some songs, but ultimately it'll just be a g&g performance. People, I think, won't care if it's just you or if it's a full band as long as you're good. :)

uh-oh

I guess my concern is that i usually submit as lush of productions as I can, so a acoustic or piano set might be boring for the songs I have, but you are G&G, so its the best way to hear your stuff, specially since you could go up there and sing nursury ryhmes accapella and wooo the crowd

Thanks though, Ill probably just stick with solo as long as there is at least one other person doing it like that/

I think it's cool to have g'n'g artists mixed in with bands - provides some variety and a rest for the ears :-) Also, from a "keep the show moving" perspective, a solo artist can set up / tear down really quickly, whereas bands (even if we all use the same drum set / amps / keyboards) will take more time to change groups. Ideal (from the stage manager's perspective) might be to alternate: band - (tear down time) - solo artist - (set up time) - band - (tear down time) - solo artist - etc. Eliminate those really long breaks where one band tears down and the next one sets up...

I havn't been chiming into this thread because I was still unsure if I'd be able to make it BUT didn't want to worry anyone just yet because I still had every intention of coming.

edge of seat? hardly I'm sure... BUT

It appears that I'll be running into a little bit of money by the end of next week.

I'll chime up when I'm certain the money is in the bank but I wanted concerned parties to know.

carry on.

I had a dream that myself, JB, Jeff, and Marcus were in some supermarket in Santa Cruz buying alcohol. "Bright Future In Sales" by Fountains of Wayne came on and we were all dancing and singing, then they all stopped, but I kept going. And it turns out they stopped because Hugh Jackman was working there stocking shelves. The guys didn't tell me to stop so I made a fool of myself in front of Hugh Jackman, but I gave him my number anyway and told him to come to the SFL show. And that was the dream

Last night I had a sequel to the dream, where Hugh Jackman came to the show, and he loved everyone's sets but mine, and he signed everyone onto his record label, except for me. And Ken and Future Boy were angry with me because I ruined a chance for The Cutie Pies to get signed, then I woke up.

Kind of sad dreams really.

Are you sure I wasn't mad because you didn't make out with Hugh Jackman? Did you see he is in the next Woody Allen movie?

Continuing the further offtopic-ness, the other night I had a really bad dream in which my house was being burgled and although I got there while it was in progress I was powerless to stop it from happening. The police didn't care because it was just in progress and nothing had been stolen YET, and the thieves were pretty insistent on taking everything. IN particular they were taking my computers and rifling through them for all the information and personal stuff they could find, with me right there. The only thing I cared about them leaving me with was my music-in-progress, and they wouldn't even give me that (they wanted to steal the songs and the rights to them and everything), and it was absolutely devastating to not be able to hold on to all that work.

It's the most disturbing dream I've had in a long time.

while the rest of the country sweltered in 90+ degree heat yesterday, it got up to a downright balmy 78 degrees in santa cruz yesterday.

just sayin..... :)

...which is about exactly the same as it was here today in Brisbane - on the coldest day so far this winter! I had to wear long trousers to work - I hate that.

Hmmm - I was thinking - Summer in California - cool, I won't need a suitcase! Just a pair of shorts and a few t-shirts in my carry-on luggage. I may have to re-think that plan!

Happy days!

Actually - no matter what the weather is like - it's guaranteed I will like Santa Cruz. My flight there will be taking me via stopovers in Melbourne and Auckland - the two most dismal and dreary cities in the known universe Then add 2 hours at LAX into the mix. Whatever is at the end of that hell-trip is bound to seem like paradise on Earth!
