I haven't had a chance to check out the last couple of fights. Even if I do, I just don't have the time to review and make an honest vote for the fight because there are just way too many songs in the fight for a guy with two jobs to sit down and honestly listen to all of them and make an honest vote, let alone review them. Maybe if there were two fights, and half as many entrants in each, I'd be able to at least focus on, review, and vote for one of the fights.
Personally, I think that the "one huge fight per week" idea basically encourages people to pick their favorite four or five artists just to hear them, and then just vote for one of those four or five. I mean, really: who (not including the fights' entrants or songfight ultra-junkies) is actually listening to every song and giving a fair vote, each week, when there are 20-40 songs to listen to in order to make a fair, honest vote?

Rationalisation #94: Irk the purists. It's a right good laugh.
Rationalisation #94a: As they (they being 'the wizards') say, you get what you give. Since now all anybody can be bothered to do is submit, all anyone gets from a fight is a track they just wrote. Actually now I think of it that sure beats not having a track you just wrote, but still reviews encourage banter among those who we don't already know which perpetuates the 'open pavilion' style which attracted me to SF in the first place, as opposed to the cliquey circle, which is fun on the inside but no fun on the outside.
Rationalisation #94b: I like bees.
