Reel-to-reel tape shortage?

I recently moved and found two 1000' 1" tape reels (an Ampex and a 3M) from when my college band recorded a couple demos years ago. Does anybody know if they're are worth anything? I'd like to sell them on Craig's List if they're worth anything, otherwise I''ll just give them away or recycle them or something.

in theory, quantegy and a new company are either up and running or on the verge of being up and running. my school was able to acquire about 30 reels of new quantegy tape, so the end of this nightmare is in sight.HeuristicsInc wrote:err, i think this thread got a bit off track. but anyway, i finally got around to getting a power cord for my revox a77 to play my very first recordings again, and suddenly realized that i don't have an empty reel for taking up the tape. anybody know where i can get one?
