Right, that's the cover thing done, at least in principle. All that's left now is whatever I can think of until the deadline. Whew. :)

I picked one a while back, but it wasn't working out. So I'm on to Plan B which I had in my back pocket anyway.

I think I'll consider my cover finished. One thing less on my mind.

I will be late. Maybe a few days.

I am currently about 80% finished - but I have a few days of that week after 15/11 free - so that is when I plan to polish things off. I am a day ahead of everyone anyway - so I guess I will still be in before most of the slack-arses.

Am also considering doing a live version of my cover at the local cafe to video and utube. That could potentially be done before deadline. Maybe.

After all that shenaniganism I guess I'd better start working on a MintyHandy cover to supplement the cover I did of my original intended target.

Octothorpe (Spud and the guy we call Mike) are in. I am off to China until the 17th. See you on the other side, so we had to finish it up early. If the deadline gets pushed out while I am gone, I might try to get Mad Dog to sing it instead of me. He is currently in California and unavailable for recording.

Why not send him to Octothorpe Studios South aka fluffy's house?

I assume that by California, Spud means Van Nuys/LA, since that's where his brother Joe lives (if I recall correctly).

Actually, it could also be in Sacramento with his twin sister Jean, or in Cayucos with his other sister Margaret. It all depends on the weather.

Van Nuys: sunny and clear
Cayucos: sunny and clear
Sacramento: cloudy with occasional rain
San Francisco: rainy as shit

I am still hoping we won't have to do that. I've only heard from one person who expects to be "a few days" late, though most of the crew hasn't checked in yet. After Halloween is over, I plan to post a "we have two weeks left, let me know where you're at" message, and see if we can't get nearly all the songs in on time. I also have at least one person who has let me know they're done and if I need somebody to pick up some slack, to let them know. But I would really like this to be "the coverfight that got finished on time" :-)

Actually - I can probably say I'll be finished on time. But I will work on an improved remix a couple of days after the deadline

I was hoping to get my big cover done this weekend. I have an arrangement all worked out and everything too. Then I got hit hard by this shitty cold that's been going around and I don't feel up to it.

Okay, everybody, see what can happen??? (seriously, sorry to hear you're not feeling well).

Since we've got a nice long deadline for the fight this time, it's a great opportunity to get those covers finished up and polished up...

I've been spending the last couple weeks learning/playing/practicing the song I'm doing, and finally last night recorded some basic tracks. I'll easily have this done on time (hint: if you learn a song first before ever hitting "record", it will turn out much better ;) )

I just figured out the chords. This is a major improvement from last week, when I finally got around to selecting which song to do.

I finally started mine yesterday. Got all of the parts worked out. Drums and guitars are recorded, which are the meat of it. Now to layer on the goodies and vocals.

Funny thing, I picked the song I'm using because it was a very simple piece with a ton of potential to rock. Interesting chord progressions and slightly odd measures. I never really paid much attention to the lyric except the chorus which grabbed my attention. So I finally go look at the lyrics and although good, not enough to carry 3 verses, they're just one long verse repeated twice. So I am taking the one long verse and breaking into 3 separate verses with the choruses between to make it into a full song. I hope my no twists original flava is to my recipient's delight. :P

I programmed drums tonight. That's always the big hurdle for me, so it's all fun and games from here on out.

Sorry to report that there has been zero progress on the song we're doing. Good thing I've still got two weeks to record my parts!!

Okay, anybody else who has made zero progress (or nearly zero) as of 11/1, please PM me (or post here, wall of shame and all that). I'll work on seeing if we can do something so everybody has some kind of a cover by the fifteenth, in case we have some late bloomers... yeah, I know, we have two weeks left and everybody will be in on time. Humor me...

Four covers finished and received so far, and mine is basically finished, I just need to polish up the mix and be done with it.

Thanks!
