Weezer's new single - Pork and Beans. It's beyond awesome.
Ha, when I clicked this link, two of the same song started just slightly delayed from each other. I thought that was how they produced it. I was thinking, oh crap, now what are they trying to shove down our throats as cool. But alas, I clicked the stop button and one of them stopped.
Good song, by the way. But they sound like Melvin. :P

The Weezer track is cool, I don't think they can ever get back to the heights of the Blue album and Pinkerton for me though. I think a certain amount of being mental was needed to make the albums work.

On the other foot, I recently got a stack of music, some of which I'm severely unimpressed by: Hot Chip's newest thing and Foals, some passed me over a bit: the new Raconteurs. A couple of really nice things though, I got Costello's My Aim is True, which is of course great, and Superabundance by The Young Knives, which is really fantastic, I don't think I could have hoped for better. If anyone heard their first album it was nice but I felt it wore a bit thin after a while. This one sounds like it's here for a while, some brilliantly thoughtful tracks and a few mindless stompy pop-songs, a really cool album. Anyway, check it out or something.

that's pretty funny...

I've been listening to...

Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F.
Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta!
Johnny Cash - Unearthed

wow that's a whole lot of Johnny... especially since I've been drinking Johnny Walker Black lately...

*GASP!* I had no idea until this moment! Dang! Okay, time to update my chronology:

The Blue Album: Second greatest album of all time
Pinkerton: The greatest album of all time
The Green Album: Hmm.
Maladroit: Eh.
Make Believe: Oh my god this sucks.
The Red Album: Hope sort of returns!

Hope's bleak if your trend continues. However, I've liked everything I've heard off each album, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Yeah, my first thought on hearing it was 'not bad song, but the mix is just wrong', my second thought was 'hey, I wonder if..' and, sure enough, five minutes later I'm downloading the multitracks from remix.nin.com so I can mix it to my own tastes instead. Now, I ask you, how fucking cool is that?

See Obs, we can do a song like this. I think we can do it if you set the timing, beat, do the percussions and then I play along with my guitar and bass to give it that "earthy" texture. Then you can chop and mix it. :P

Mindless Self Indulgence - If...

I was really apprehensive about this album, because on their last few releases it seems MSI had mostly given up their intricate drum programming, hip-hop influences, IDM elements and operatic vocals (so, all the things I liked about them) in favor of a more conventional dance-punk sound. Thankfully, the new album is somewhat closer to their original genre-hopping style.

Hey, I'm still game for a collab. Although if it's for a songfight it's probably not best to rely on me for lyrics & vocals, 'cos I take forever to come up with either of those and often just run out of time.

But let's not try to do a song like Disciple. Let's try to do better :)

Cool. When ever you get the inspiration, put together a killer background for me to layer onto and we'll build a cake. :P
I can do the vocals and you can run them through you fancy shmansy gizmos. We can probable co write it, or have Niv write something. He has an interestinly dark mind.

The Last Shadow Puppets album is good, a little close to pastiche at times but a great sound none-the-less.

I can not wait to hear the new Fall album

I bought P.O.D. 'When Angels and Serpents Dance', since I've been a fan since Junior High. I'd rank it below Satellite, Brown and Southtown, but it owns payable on death and testify - I think they're on track to being a good band again.

Lyrics Born's new album Everywhere at Once. I find it strangely compelling, even when it's at its dullest, like the men-and-women song "Differences," or the reggaeton effort "Top Shelf." Somehow, this is what I expected the new Gnarls Barkley album to sound like. Check out "I Can't Decide (Everywhere At Once)" or "Do U Buy It?" in particular to see what I mean.

mc chris is dead

I'm diggin' it. It's easy to picture Meatwad (the cartoon character, not the Songfighter) dancing along to the album.
