I love that song! Very underrated, IMO. It shows how g^2 (guy + guitar) can be so good if done right.
Niv, your recording skillz are really improving. Get a pop filter (or make yourself one out of a coat hanger and pantyhose), and don't get too close to the mike, and I'd say you've eliminated any technical stuff that could seriously get in the way of enjoying your music.

Hopefully my production will be better in the new year. I just got a new mixer (didn't have one before) and my new 4-track will be arriving soon. And I'm definitely gonna try out the pop filter.

I think many musicians were turned off to pop filters after the Beastie Boys rapped "never rock the mic with the pantyhose" but it is a good EZ idea. I advised someone on the dumbrella thread how to make one. It's not rocket surgery.

or instead of buying the supplies to make one and go to all that trouble ( i know it's not a LOT of trouble but i'm really lazy ) you can buy them really cheap sometimes... if you look around you can probably find a sorta crappy but usable one for under ten bucks.

I would do this if everyone was willing. I think it's a cute idea.
I think at least Cashpoint and 15-16 Puzzle were down, and I seem to remember Future Boy saying something favorable too. I'd think Octothorpe and JBB and TSI could probably be persuaded. I never talk to Josh Woodward, and I haven't talked to White Hat or JoS lately. Maybe in January after things have settled down a little I could make a post in Sidefights about it, and if my recommendations aren't feelin' it then other people could volunteer.

Is it intended irony - but this sounds like a song about frustration in not being able to find a job being sung by somebody who can't be bothered getting out of bed in the morning to go to work 8)

Yeaah... that hit a little too close to home, Caravan Ray. I think the last time I went outside was two or three days ago. I can't remember which.

so i was visiting with a friend earlier, and at one point was explaining about the whole "gift of music" concept (basically, explaining why i will be locking myself in my bedroom and totally incommunicado all weekend)... anyway, out of curiosity i asked her which four songs she'd pick to have somebody choose from, and the second one mentioned was "feed the tree".. when i told her about this version you did she seemed really intrigued -- a belly cover by a guy? and a black guy at that? a lo-fi acoustic version? -- so i just sent a link to the song, i'll let you know if she likes it...

Oh MAN, I know your message was meant for Niveous, but I fully admit to loving the whole New Edition "Heartbreak" album, ESPECIALLY from "Can you stand the rain" to the end of the album.
I love how they put all the uptempo stuff on side 1, and all the slow stuff on side 2. They didn't have Bobby Brown on that album, and I really don't think it hurt them one bit.
