no, I hereby state that I specifically do not want my songs posted on OTM's website. I hereby state that under my own copyrights, he does not have permission to post my songs at this particular time.

There are probably well over 1000 contributers to the archives.

Some people might object but they would be in the minority.

The absence of Hoblittle's songs would hardly be a great loss.

Now, I'll go so far as to say that I could also mirror the weekly fights.

Then I can link that to a forum that was democratically governed.

In other words, I would give control of the forums to democratically elected administrators and mods who would serve for limited terms.

You're missing the point though. YOu're making a new site. Why not get new content? Why must your democratic forum be tied to an existing collection of songs? What does the forum have to do with the music archive to begin with?

I think you're mixing up your goals with your solutions.

Hello. Long time reader, first time poster. Would you turn your radio down please? So... from what I've read, you're a fighter, not a lover. What happens when your utopia is achieved? What do you do next?

And on another topic, you really remind me of the freedom fighter Reg Shoe in Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" books.

My preference is for the current system, where we have the freedom to make asses of ourselves, and the moderating--such as it is--is mostly performed on the peer level, in the threads, in response to the posts that offend, irritate, amuse, annoy. Where everyone is equal in right to post or not post, according to their own choice in the matter. And the mods are called in on matters that, if they happened face to face, IRL, would result in violence, jail time and other losses of personal liberty. Quis custodiet ipsos custode? Respect and trust do.

Yes, I'm talking about the example that LEF set, and had made of him.

A democratic system, one of the popular vote, yields results that only represent the desires of the lowest common denominator of the population. And if that's your goal, great, follow your bliss, dude.

But don't tell me your choices are right for me and expect me to follow you blindly. That's a cult of personality, fascism, a dictatorship, what have you. And rather contradictory to your stated goals of democracy through destruction.

I chose to upload my music to Spud & JB's server. I do not give you permission to repost it elsewhere.

Don't post my music elsewhere. I don't care if you're still trolling or you really have a fucked up way of presenting genuine ideas; if you steal my shit, I will find you.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I'll take the songs that the other over 970 users have posted.

I'll post it for them on their site and connect it to a forum that they will govern themselves.

And we can leave you 30 here to wallow in your stoopidity.

While our site grows and yours diminishes.

The 970 can represent themselves and have no fear of being stomped on By the 30. Resulting in greater participation by the true majority.

Wow, I take it back, you did pick up some new rhetoric and trolling skillz. Congrats on getting underneath everyone's skin by saying you *could* present people's music against their will in ways they don't agree with. Well, hell, I *could* bake up a bunch of Exlax brownies and bring them in to work tomorrow. I *could* go steal a bunch of scrap metal from the recycling place down the street. I *could* spill red wine on all my white socks. But I'm not going to. Quit talking about crap you *could* do.

Why bother hosting the songs on your website, though? That part is a complete red troll herring. It's not necessary to what you're trying to do, which is set up a democratic forum. It's just a semiclever ruse set up to piss people off.

You are marginally less boring than before. You are still a troll.

Blahblahblah. Can you stop pretending that you believe there are over 1,000 users? That is a misleading statistic. Most of those have 0 posts, because they are bots. Go count how many users have more than 10 posts.

You are now back to being as boring as you were. Pity that. I really thought you had promise. Oh well, I guess it's hard to be truly annoying.

http://www.songfight.net/forums/memberl ... &start=550

550ish of these have at least 1 post.

http://www.songfight.net/forums/memberl ... &start=190

190ish of these have at least 20 posts.

And I'm sure at least some of them are double accounts that people have. Caravan Ray has three accounts yet he is one person.

Madness, mais oui monsieur.

Jack, I am of the opinion that there is an agenda worth discussing hidden in the rhetoric advanced by this guy. I think there ARE organizational issues which will need to be addressed in the long term. There is no hurry, but there is no reason to stifle discussion of them just because the guy bringing them to the fore started out life as a troll.

critical mass has it's own way of solving problems. maybe i'm in the minority here, and i understand you being objective and taking the high road on this issue spud, but i'm not sure anything is really broken and in need of fixing.

if i honestly thought this person had something positive to offer with his opinion, that's one thing, but evidence of that is scant at best.

I'm not sure it is either, Jack. I am just saying that I am not opposed to discussing it.

I would personally prefer Spud and JB running things then someone like myself with some sort of power.

I heart Spud & JB.
