Figured this out years ago: digital candles.
Let's see, for 54:
the 1 candle is not lit
the 2 candle is LIT
the 4 candle is LIT
the 8 candle is not lit
the 16 candle is LIT
the 32 candle is LIT
the 64 candle is not lit.
...and unless my math skills are as far gone as everything else, that should be "54" in digital birthday candles...
