Well, that was sorta the point. I mean, we don't wanna spoil someplace that's still, y'know, uninfected...

P.S. - if it does wind up in Boston, I vote for Songfight Cliff & Norm...

I think there's very little chance of it being in a small PA town since that's already been done and the potential organizers (aka me and jb) look forward to getting out of PA each year. And, uh, New Jersey's just gross, so....well, ick, I guess. I think if you want a small town, take Leaf up on his offer to move it out of the country or reconsider Cleveland because I think the actual gig would be in Lexington or wherever it is that those guys go to school. Cleveland would be a side trip. Or put it in Las Vegas, but book it at the Small Town Casino*, with faithful representations of every small town in America.
*as of this writing, Small Town Casino does not actually exist.

Walla Walla, Washington. Or Kalamazoo, Michigan. Or maybe Rancho Cucamonga? I also know a place called Irrigon, Oregon. See that would make for some interesting trips and conversation for everyone. And great songfight titles.

...me too. Damn... Floridar really would rock though Hoblit... you got the weather.... I mean the good days man not the storms!!!
Boston... I'm gonna have to check into the costion for Boston before I blurb any intentions... all though it sounds like we could have a Redcar show... that'd be cool... we'd probably argue through our rehearsals...but I bet it'd rock!

who needs rehearsals? It's
way more fun to argue live on stage.

This happened today. Notable home weekends:
June 4-5: Anaheim
June 18-19: Pittsburgh
July 2-3: Toronto
July 16-17: New York *
July 30-31: Minnesota
August 13-14: Chicago
* This is actually not as good as it sounds, because tickets will be hard to get and very expensive.
Anyway, I'm just sayin'.

Yah, there was one in particular that made us all very angry for about twenty years, but that was before your time (by like a week or so

)

If its drink, drugs and prostitutes for the under 20's you're after then I suggest SongFight Amsterdam. Then again I've never been to America before so that might be interesting, although my brother says Vegas is somewhat cheesey!

Anybody live in Missoula, Montana? I lived there the year before last, and I think it'd be perfect. The town/city is very lefty for Montana, so it's a good place for both sides of the political arguments, it's got some of the best nature I've ever seen (tubing down the River on a hot summer day with a can of beer or two is one of the best ways to spend your time that I can think of), most of the best beer I've ever drank, and a venue (can't remember the name) that used to be an old theatre that I think would be totally up for something like this.

Last time I tubed down the Rattlesnake, and a Bald eagle swooped down and caught a fish about 10-20 yards in front of me.

Hypothetically: what would be a fair amount to expect to pay to hire a space for a week-end to host our show? Something along the lines of the church in Austin, two nights and if we can hang out early and rehearse it's a bonus. With and/or without a PA system included.

To be honest, we don't want to pay a fair amount. We want a ridiculously large price break. Like $200 or less.

i think Ken just secured the Accordian in san francisco for something like $200-300 for the show, and someone has to run the bar and the door. the place is kind of a dump but works for this sort of event as it's fairly big (about 1500 sf i'd guess). it's a performance art/gallery.
the place i'm working on setting up in santa cruz would run $35/hour with a 2 hour minimum, so there we're looking at again, somewhere along the lines of $200 for the night. the santa cruz space is about 1000sf and includes some lighting, chairs, a piano, but no PA setup. the space is a pretty nice gallery/performance space. ken and i checked it out last friday and it looks pretty good.
finding a bar/tavern that would be willing to host such an event might be cheaper in cost but limiting in that minors could not get in or perform. and i'm personally not in favor of restricting the event that way.

Is there a website for the Accordion? I think I may have found the perfect spot out this way, but I'd like to compare it with more of the other places that we've been using.
