Today's deal is a potentially decent pair of AKG headphones for $70, down from $200!

These are supposed to have a flat frequency response and so might be good for mixing. If you're on a budget and you're doing your mixing using cheap earbuds or cheap computer speakers or the speakers built in to your laptop, these could be a good upgrade for you.

Not exactly a "stupid deal" but they have some two-for-one specials right now. Just picked up a pair of condensers to ise as a stereo pair on my acoustic for $59 bucks.

Tempting.
Ross, do you have any experience with the CAD CM217, or were you just buying because of the why-not price?

Today's deal is a Rogue mandolin, which actually gets pretty good reviews. I'd been thinking of picking up the Ibanez electric-acoustic one, but for $40 (for the black one) this is tempting.

I have an Eleca-branded mandolin which looks completely identical to the sunburst one pictured there. Probably the same factory or something. It's been treating me well over the years, though I haven't been particularly demanding on it.

I have a Rogue mandolin...you can hear it on the Tedward Nixon Experience track
Diggin' Out and in the breakdown and big rock ending on
my 2009 Gift of Music. It's not terrible for a cheap instrument.

Today's SDotD is a Vox AC4TVmini 4W Tube Guitar Combo Amp. For $99 you get a little tube amp. Those of you looking for a small, quiet amp for rocking out in your bedroom should consider it. I wasn't nearly impressed with this line of amps as I was with the Vox Night Train, but for $99 you probably wont do better for a small decent sounding tube amp. I may get one of these for the heck of it.

I bet that you can mic that and send it to the DAW and make a big sound.
Buy it and loan it to me. I spent all my money on Christmas presents.

Interesting deal today. It's a Marshall 40-watt 1x12 all tube combo amp for $500, down from $600.

Here's a review:
http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... eview.aspx
It kind of reminds me of my Marshall JTM-30 30-watt tube 1x12 combo amp that I got a while back on Craig's List for a little bit less. The YouTube demos sound pretty good. This probably isn't the sort of thing anybody here would really buy but I figured I'd post it anyway.

Todays deal is a pair of AKG K540 headphones for $80. They usually sell for $200. If you are still mixing on crappy speakers or cheap headphones, you might want to jump on this. The reviews seem really good.

Today's deal is a little start pack, with headphones, a mic, an audio interface, and software, for $150. If you're just getting into this whole crazy business and you've only got a laptop with a built-in mic, some earbuds headphones, and GarageBand or something like that, this would be a simple and relatively cheap way for you to take it to the next level.

If someone had offered a deal like that when I was just starting out, my earliest recordings might not have sounded quite so rough. Anyone have any experience with that microphone? Is it good for the price range?

That's what I have. I didn't like my previous condenser mics. I got the B1 on a high recomendation and I really like it.

Today's deal is Celemony Melodyne essential for $50. This is an autotune program you can use as a plugin to your DAW (e.g. Cubase, Logic, etc.) or on its own. You can also manually adjust the pitch and timing of syllables in vocals too, beyond just autotuning. I don't personally like autotuning in a professional setting, but I use it for Song Fight! because a) we're just amateurs and b) we work under crazy deadlines.

It's also useful for effect purposes and making impossible things happen. Just using it as a crutch is weaksauce. Using it as something new? I can get behind that, totally.

+1. I like autotune only for these reasons too.

If you have been waiting to buy a cheap condenser microphone for vocals, acoustic guitar, and drums overhead, now is your chance! The MXL V88 cost about $300 or so new a few years ago. I checked it out at NAMM when it first came out and was very impressed. You could do a lot worse paying more than $99 for another mic. Get two!
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid/
The MXL V88 studio condenser microphone captures the rich, beautiful harmonics produced by the human voice and fine musical instruments with a quality that is usually found only in classic tube microphones. The MXL V88 gives vocalists added warmth, and gives radio DJ's and Podcasters a fuller, deeper sound. This makes the V88 perfect for studio and broadcast recording alike.

I've always been impressed with the MXL mics I've gotten, and the V63m has been my standard everything-mic for years now. I might pick up a couple of the V88s myself.

I feel like someone posted this before, but I can't find where. Not from MF, but Best Buy has a deal on some cheap guitar pedals:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Behringer+- ... 25&loc=PGR
Probably not the worst trio of pedals you could buy for $10 each.
