HEY! Guess what? A friend was over a week ago at my BBQ and told me to stick in his OOO MAY cd because he thought I might like it. I saw you post about UME some time ago, but I never checked them out because the band name seemed unappealing to me. And it didn't click when he said OOO MAY. I listened, I enjoyed, I looked at the cd for lyrics and it was then I saw UME. Just like in the movies when pictures start flashing faster and faster and the sound gets louder and louder and then it hits me and my eyes widen, BAM, That's what Niv was talking abooot. :P

Yep, I like UME. Power trio and they rock.

I'm listening to a playlist that includes:
Kayo Dot
How to Destroy Angels
Portishead
To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie
and others.

I think I'm gonna mentally end up in a dark dark place.

Aren't you already in a dark place Niv?

And is it wrong that I think III by Sebadoh is way better than Bubble & Scrape?

I ordered my first Wheat cd for 96p yesterday.

The new album by Grinderman... entitled... Grinderman 2. I just got the vinyl. It's dope. Except for one song. It's slow. Not that good. Too bad. Because the rest. Is dope.

Holy crap, CR!!!! You just found my new favorite band! I was just talking with a friend about how uninspired and uninterested in EVERY fucking band out these days. I was even thinking that when I clicked this thread and said in my head, "ok, lets hear all the crap every thinks is great so I can be disappointed yet another day". Then low and behold, the last song on this thread I listen to made me cheer!! Great find. I'm going to go find and steal everything they have.

Great video too.

The recorded stuff is not as good as they are live, but Cuss Words (formerly Thee Cuss Words) are pretty fabulous - http://theecusswords.bandcamp.com/

Rauccous two guitar and drums set-up. Punky punky. From West Kent. Probably friends with Furry Pedro :)

Cuss Words sound like my old punk band. It seems that Sex Bob-Om is bringing garage noise punk back to the surface. It never went away, it's just been in a coma.

Last night I head "Blood Buzz Ohio" by the National on the radio and it reminded me how much I enjoy this song. The dry rhythmic drums, the sustained piano chords, the Johnny Cash vocals all work together so well. The video is boring as hell, but you can still hear the song this way:

I've been listening to Iron & Wine's new album Kiss Each Other Clean pretty much nonstop for the last three days. The lyrics are dense, even on the narrative songs, but not in a way that discourages repeat listens. The music is much more arranged and ornate than previous Iron & Wine recordings, but he handles the extra instruments perfectly, and even the biggest-arranged songs don't feel too cluttered.

I think Ross in particular would enjoy track 1, "Walking Far From Home," whose lyrics evoke (intentionally, I hope) Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall."

I wanted to share some other tracks, but most of them are pitch-shifted or distorted, because Beam's label is stupidly aggressive about this stuff, apparently.

I never got into the whole J-rock scene and I thought it was just a bunch of mimicking of American rockers. A friend showed me a vid of a guitar player that was from some popular J-rock band I never heard of. I love listening to him.

Miyavi. Anyone familiar with him? He visually doesn't match how awesome he rocks, lol. This guy gets my foot stompin' and my soul groovin'.
