Thanks, man.
This isn't the order I recorded the songs in - the actual chronological order was 3 & 7 (track 7 was originally the middle 8 for track 1, fact fans) ,1,4,6,8,5,2. Ii just thought this order sounded better, only I mis-named the two Stone Palaces.
Hawkwind, eh?

Lots of good AAD stuff lately. Bjam's "Metal Didn't Keep Me Down" (which needs a cover showing off the new braces) was very good (as I've already said). Badger Patrol brought the rock. Cake at the Door is my first song to obsess over this year. I'm going to be playing that one ad nauseum. And J$'s newest alter-ego, the Gary Wilmots, was very very good. I liked your work with my lyrics. Hearing you chant about being the new Christ was awesome. I also really liked Barely Human and That's How we like it. I think the two tunes need to be merged like Queen's We will rock you/ We are the Champions.

Thanks, Niv - this is highly inappropriate but also oddly, very appealing. I shall see what I can do. Maybe I could join them with a 'day-eo' call and response section?

An A.A.D. recorded New Year's Day, 2006
Just listened to it in amazement. I thought you were badly hungover.
Exceptional work, I really enjoyed it and particularly 4, 5 and 8. I have to say 7 made me smile hugely too.

Heh, thanks. I was. I do believe I do my best stuff when hung-over - and even if I don't it's nice getting to the point where I start to believe!
(ps I wrote 'Fightin' This Christmas' as the Little Smokes' Xmas single for next year

heh, this is cool. When isn't J$ hung over? Probably why he won't respond to my PMs...
*edit* he has responded. He was avoiding me because he felt inadequate...

Gary Wilmots Reviews
1. Five Nights in Britain
+++ A rockin' mess +++
2. Stone Palace
+++ This is also hitting HARD. The double time rap is awesome +++
--- Not so hot on the guitar tone, and also the vocal rhythm of the coda ---
3. Barely Human
/// The off-kilter edits save this from utter dullness. ///
4. That's How We Like It!
+++ Vocalubalary bonus points for 'pedarast'. Self-mockery
bonus points for "Cheesy part!". But you didn't need any
bonus points on this one, it's solid. +++
5. Fightin' This Christmas
+++ Clever, fun, melodic, cynical +++
/// Hard to get into though, maybe the MIDI piano? ///
6. Stone Palace (II)
/// This is also kind of strange in an unappealing way ///
7. Five Nights in Britain (II)
+++ I love that reverb'ed sound, which is probably a
guitar. Not sure. But it makes the track. For sure. Also
foudn the borrowed melody rather welcome , while also
effectively creepy. +++
8. Age Is Nothing But A Number
+++ Also a great track. The piano in the verse MAKES
this one. Oh, and random delayed vocals. +++
You make more songs than the average listener can follow. I must say I like this a lot. It's way better than your February Month album from last year. That's the last I remember. I concur with the BURN comment above. I would even pay to keep this in my permanent collection. Cheers.

OK, well it's not twenty minutes, but I guess you could call it an EP-a-day...
Four songs:
1. You
2. He
3. I
4. She

This is godly awesome. Way to raise the AAD bar. Now I feel like I have to try and top this

Mind Control is fabulous, Creature of Habit sounds like # produced by Donald Fagan (this is a good thing) and Nothing Better, well, hey, I haven't heard anything better for a while. One level shame you didn't "finish" it, another it feels done as it is. Anything else would be superfluous. Damn Fightmaster for not getting the titles out while you wre on this rich vein of form. 'Never had a job where I had to wear a hat' - you do now, the job being 'pop genius' and the hat being a crown

Awesome stuff Starfinger.
Anything that makes me grin like a fucking idiot while riding home on the train is alright by me. Mind control blows my mind, especially since I had just been listening to an interview with the hacker Captain Crunch just before hand!

I have a question. What constitutes an album are we talking 5-6 or 10+ songs?
I'm really interested in doing this, something to get the stagnant pool that is my songwriting moving. I'm sure this has been delved into at some point but it wasn't done on the first page of the thread so i thought i would just ask.

Hey there,
All the info can be found at:
the Album-A-Day web page.
But here's a synopsis: in a 24-hour period, you must write, record, and upload an album consisting of at least 20 minutes of music OR 30 songs. There's more to it than that, but not much. Read about it at Crap Art, and check out some of the AADs there. Some favorites of mine:
Feldspar - Welcome To Iceland
Starfinger - Ho!
C Hack - AAD (particularly ambitious: 24 songs in 24 hours)
Glenn Case - Keeping The Doctor Away

I had a lot of time over spring break, I guess. I was really pushing it trying to get it over 20 minutes; I ran into a creative dry spell about 8 or 9 hours in, just couldn't come up with anything so I started playing around semi-randomly. That's what Eddie Gaedel came from (which I actually really like) but also what track 6 came from (which is just useless filler).

The first HNiD AAD.
It actually took me less than half a day, and it was surprisingly easy and fun. I expected it to be long and grueling. I think it had a lot to do with the concept. But also, the weird thing is that I wasn't intending to make an album a day. I just decided to start writing some songs and to record them quickly, just like little b-side sort of things. Then I realized I was getting close to album a day length, so I kept going.
Born Again and Again and Again...
This is a concept album about reincarnation. Each song is sung in a different lifetime by the same narrator, just by the narrator's different incarnations.
My favorites are "Deer," "Skunk" and "Whale."

Fodroy - downloading these now. Minor glitch on the main page, the 22nd was Saturday, not Monday.
