OK, I never heard about Todd Rundgren picks ("Hello, It's Me" and "Can We Still Be Friends"), but where would Captain and Tennille's "
Do That to Me One More Time" sit?
"Do that to me one more time" fits perfectly, but as you see, it has already been called.
It's up to Cap'n Moboid, but I think "Hello it's me" is a perfect choice too. Todd's "It Wouldn't Have Made A Difference" or "I saw the Light" would also be great choices. I've never heard "Can we still be friends" but checking out a sound sample on his <a href="

ROCK!

Rio does pretty well.
Tho Im guessing, tho there more yacht than you can shake a stick at, there may also be slightly too much rock.
Still great vid all the same

We Call "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" - Hall and Oates.
This one has already been rejected, as it's from their post-Yacht era and style.
roymond wrote:Did anyone take Steve Miller's "Abracadabra"? Is this valid?
Glenn's right, it's not smooth.
jimtyrrell wrote:Does "Escape" by Rupert Holmes qualify? If so, I'll do that.
Well, I'm surprised because I thought the song was more recent than that, but <a href="

No, sorry.

OK, yes to both! He's like ...<a href="

Wow this forces me to realize i didn't account for the presence of an Actual Yacht in my video scoring system! But even so... though this is clearly Rock on a Yacht, it is not Yacht Rock, sorry.

How about Men at Work's "Downunder"? It was used vomit-inducingly heavily as the themesong for Australia II in the 1983 America's Cup - and hence will be forever associated with big, expensive yachts and the dickheads that sail them.
I'm also still a bit pissed off that I dozed off in the pub (jet lag and all that)on my first night in Santa Cruz and missed my chance to sing it at the karaoke.

Hey Moboid
Could we please have a list so far of what's in, if you have a spare moment, or have you been updating a post a few pages back?
I must shamefully admit to having lost track.

Can I just check that Jack has indeed claimed 'If You Leave Me Now'? I can't find any reference to it in the thread - but it would spare me (and yourselves) my own interpretation

I think "checking old posts" means going through the entire thread to find references to this or that. Whereas checking the very first post means simply going to the first page and witnessing the beauty of an updated status which is easy to find and doesn't move as new posts are added to the thread. The only draw back is if the owner of the thread hands over the project to another, but hey, you've always seemed dependable
And you could add something to the first post: roymond - Todd Rundgren's "Hello, It's Me"

Heh. Yeah, I was thinking about that, actually. I have three songs that I need to really start putting together. Learned the main riff to Sailing through some online tabs, and it's not all that easy, as it turns out.
That's okay. We'll make it happen.
ROCK!

I'd like to change my song, if I can. I was gonna do "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes, but having listened to the rest of that album (Partners In Crime), I rediscovered the song "Him", and it's much smoother.
So yeah. If I have time to do both, I might do that. But I'd really like to record "Him". Matter of fact, it's coming along nicely. I'm assuming I host it myself, and PM a link to the Yachtzi when it's ready, right?

I'm gonna have to bail out on this one. Too much other stuff going on, and I'm afraid songfight is going to have to go on the back burner 'til December at least.
