No, Horny Male Libido get's the priority...

Songfight=class.

Speaking of class, as in the class of Boston, I'm still PLANNING on going, but I can't commit 100% yet, as a little thing called glasses for the kids and work on the car stole my airplane ticket budget. Assuming life doesn't bill me again before June, Dana and I will be in attendance, and Redcar can do it's pale imitation of a lower-class new-wave Rush.

If I'm gonna make it out, I sure hope I get to jam with some other fighters, let alone play at the show... so I cross my fingers.

BLAST!! DAMN YOU TO HELL! [/Stewie]

I was spared that ridiculous investment by the clear concise advice of my band mates... wait, didn't THC WANT me to get roto toms?

I hope there's roto-toms in Boston... that'd be funny.

Based on what I've seen for the LA songfight, you guys should definitely look into booking the showcase room at Jamspot for the Boston songfight. That's exactly what they're doing in LA.

It looks pretty swell, with the one possible caveat that it may be a bad idea to pay more for practice space than for the actual performance space. It is still good to know about, though, just in case cheaper alternatives fail to pan out.

Are you guys coming down? Redcar live is something I definitely don't want to miss! :D

Oh definitely, I hear ya. I was thinking for a night of performances, might consider renting out the "Showcase Room" because I think that is what they are doing down in LA. Side bands could possibly even then rent out a smaller room for practice. It's kinda expensive though, still figured I'd throw the idea out there in case there were no other options. The thing that blows bull nuts is that you have to put alcohol in a non-conspicuous container and such. And they won't let ya burn a J either. These are serious drawbacks for me.

I do know that the SkyBar in Somerville is generally open to booking a night if a bunch of bands have it organized in advance, and can promise some sort of a draw. I'm playing a show like that on Apr. 22nd over there. It was organized by the "phish phantasy tour" messageboard website where one of my side projects (called Hirojima) had a song featured on a compilation CD not too long ago. I'm not sure what the plans are but if this helps, I'll see what I can find out when I'm there.

I wish I owned a bigass warehouse instead of a small condo here in Boston...

Oh, totally different scales for the two shows; even their showroom space would be way wrong for the Boston show, too small, and the restrictions are too, well, restrictive. We will need some rehearsal space for a day or two before the actual show, because the redcar situation is pretty common-- you'll have folks playing songs with people that they live thousands of miles away from, so a little bit of rehearsal is a must.

Sky Bar is a neat place; it wouldn't be my first choice but it's on the list of possible fallbacks if my numero one venue falls through. I'll try and come down next Friday and watch y'all play if I can, but my schedule is pretty silly right now so no promises.

Gotchya. I totally agree.

Just wondering, what is numero one venue? I'll check the previous posts. I'm interested to know! SkyBar's definitely not my first choice either, just figured since I know they are hosting this multi-band compilation 'event' on the 22nd, they may be open to other types of muli-band events...I'll ask when I'm there anyway, just for the hell of it.

I'll also add that I am playing at the Paradise front room on a Friday in mid-August as part of reunion show for the band "Skinny Tee". It would be sweet if that happend to be August 12th...details to come. I've got a band together and we are already playing my Songfight "Wish I Was So Sure" and "Me the Merciless" tunes. Lemme know if you're looking for more performers, I'd be psyched to rock out solo on the acoustic g, or with the band. Also if you're looking into booking at Great Scott in Allston, I live right down the street and know the manager of that place. I can look into it.[/i]
