(This is how they can keep their prices so low; there's some obnoxious legislation from several years ago which forces airlines to pay the travel agent's commission, and then also forces their direct sales to be the same price as the travel agents' prices to protect the agents, so the airlines can either sell everything at a loss or they can just refuse to deal with travel agents. Guess which one they picked.)
It's actually a lot worse than that. The main reason why Southwest doesn't sell through travel agents is that they don't want to pay to be listed in the services like SABRE that provide all the data (and sales capability) to travel agents. That is where the majority of profit goes from an airline ticket; travel agents are lucky to break even, and so are the airlines.
Oh, yeah, I'll be there.

We(stueym and I, probably not my lovely mother and brother)'ll probably be there. Kinda like 75% at the minute.

I will be there, no doubt. I cannot commit for the rest of Octothorpe at this time. Crash and SpudNut may be in Hong Kong, and Mad Dog is jobless again. Even if he gets a job, it may be hard to take off for this. And of course, fluffy speaks for himself, as usual.

I will be very irritated if I miss this year's Songfight Live after missing last year's event.
I don't plan on missing it this year. Rachael doesn't either.

i'm not looking for actual full tilt committment as much as interest. i'm planning on getting the place 2 nights, just want to make sure there will be enough to support 2 nights of songfight madness.

I think you and I could fill a night alone between all our different songfight bands.
Now, who do I talk to about a sonofsupercar reunion?

And of course, fluffy speaks for himself
I have permission? Yay!

Moboid and I plan to be there. It coincides nicely with a little family reunion in SD.
Doesn't anybody remember about the giant house idea? Who's still up for that?

this is a very good resource to use for this sort of thing.

be careful, a lot of house rentals want you to commit to a whole week (at least on this coast).
i probably won't be able to be there this year... we will have to be happy enough with memories of wayne.

Plat and I (mostly Plat) are looking into the costs of going at the moment. We're planning on being there but it's not 100% definite yet.

I'll probably come a day or two early, will be available to do guitar / bass / backing vocals for anybody, and will also be interested in putting together a pickup band to do some KA songs...
Charles
santa cruz to carmel is a little over an hour. or it's about an hour from here to monterey/pacific grove. saturday you won't have to worry about the commuter traffic either. even if you can make one night, i'd love to see you charles, and would love to jam with you in some form.
i just met with this woman from cayuga vault. she's going to email me the contract, and she's given me her assurance that she's holding those dates for us. the place is the perfect size i think, and i'd like to promote it as a public, all ages, event. also, they are going to promote it on their calendar page, which will also get listed in numerous local papers that print the cayuga vault shows in their music sections.
i'm putting together a bunch of information about lodging options, airports, how to get here, places to eat, things to do, etc.
also, if any hearty souls should want to camp somewhere (the weather in santa cruz in august is pretty damn nice), that's a cheap option, and i'm sure you could leave anything musical at my house for safekeeping. also, my house can be available as a practice venue.
i will feel good once this is resolved.

Rabid Garfunkel will be there. Albatross (it's okay that I'm speaking for you, yeah?) will be there. Which means... the Primitive Screwheads ride again, heh.
Somewhere in one of these threads I'd offered up a ride to anyone in the NW to at least the Bay Area (en route to Fresno--Albatross's turf), if they could get to Portland under their own steam. mkilly had expressed interest in that offer, so he's at the head of the line (I have a tiny hatchback, which with all the gear becomes for all intents and purposes, a two-seater).
Rough itinerary: Drive south on the weekend of the 12th (date undecided), head north on the 21st.

speaking of gear, i doubt that much if anything will be needed to be brought by anyone outside the bay area. i think between myself, blue, ken, sam and others we'll have it pretty much covered. there will be a house PA with a provided sound guy.
