Now
that explains a lot.
Me, I haven't heard anything new to me lately, and exams have precluded me from actively listening. My study music - for the few subjects I can listen to music while studying - consisted of Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Cat Stevens.
Now I'm back on Elvis Costello. It does a body good.

Weren't all Cat Stevens records publicly burned in your country after it was discovered that they were passing secret messages to al Qaida operatives?

Dallas Crane - self titled album.
Bought it this arvo - it's a cracker! Sound's like what the Jet album should have sounded like if it hadn't been over-produced and had the life and soul squeezed out of it.
Classic Australian rock and roll - or for my American friends - that means, think what Iggy and the Stooges would have sounded like if they had spent more time surfing. Or maybe what the Rolling Stones would have sounded like if they had immigrated as children and grown up in a migrant camp in South Australia (like members of AC/DC, The Easybeats and Cold Chisel did).
If anyone likes Jet - I seriously recommend you search out Dallas Crane.

Muse's entire discography. Why isn't Muse popular on this continent?

Perhaps. Still, good for the soul.

They can't be Radiohead (even if the lead singer sounds exactly like Thom Yorke), because Radiohead hasn't made music this accessible in years (excluding HttT).

No kidding. Supposedly they have a much larger following in Cashpoint Country. Check out their Origin of Symmetry album; it's (fittingly) inspiring.

They're pretty popular down here. I saw them a few years ago at the Livid Festival - they go all right.

They do indeed. Right on the edge of crossing into the big time. next album should do it. I quite like them (well, I like them a lot but the prog-rock leanings of the lyrics and enormo-8 minute metal guitar wig-outs intimidate the punk in me.)

My company gave us Delphi XM Satellite radios and a year subscription for Xmas and I just received mine today (both home and car mounts)! Been listening to the "Unsigned" channel 52. This is cool shit. I've met the guy who puts this program together and hopefully I can remix some of my stuff to send in next week. I recommend people consider doing the same. It should be tightly produced, although some of the stuff they're playing is clearly "indie" produced, but good.
The other channels are heavy on metal and prog, which works pretty well. It's like having old-time radio again. Without the commercials!
Laurie Anderson...Peter Gabriel...ok I have to catch up with the millenium and all, but still...
