Hey, I didn't get stiffed! Bewells - good one! Nice sound. I never would have thought of putting the two together... cool idea.

Hey Eddie, I might have made a typo with my tired brain and fingers - mine is "Locomotive Breath" not "breach" :)

All songs sound good, and its an enjoyable playlist ...
but man, Eddie Bangs is the man!
unless that's a karaoke track in the background, that's one superb cover!
Anti-M, gets second in my book, for a very original cover.

Hi all! I haven't had a chance to listen to any of these yet, but based onteh reviews so far, it sounds like they turned out great!

If you get stiffed, Just letting you know the committee won't forget you, but - we're giving a one week grace period for late arrivals before we get in motion. Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone got covered and the committee didn't need to do anything - I'd probably just do one for fun :-)

I haven't had a chance to listen to everyone's entries just yet, but I did listen to my gift, and it might just be my favorite GoM present to date!

Em - You came up with a thoroughly original take on 'Somebody's Watching Me', and I absolutely love it! Thank you SO much!

For some reason, that strikes me as a magnificent name for an album. Might have to use that one.

Glad you approve, Anti. Hugzezez!!

Enter It: Wow, when you said "Praise to Jah" you weren't kidding. I am really digging this, and I'm digging it more the more I hear it. As you may or may not know, "Popcorn" has been covered A LOT. A lot of them are just club remixes, though, and I was very curious to see how a Songfight artist would interpret it. So you just grew out your dreads, lit up the ganja and busted out this Rastarrific version. Pow-wah to da pee-po!

(although I admit I had no idea who Augustus Pablo was)

Anyway, outstanding set of songs this year. I never thought the '05-'06 GoM could ever be surpassed or even matched, but it very well could have this year.

My iPod Touch didn't know what hit it.

Once all the stiffed people have been taken care of, I may start picking through the list of songs that people chose not to cover. Or not, depending on if I have the time.

I was looking forward to someone covering "Seasons in the Sun", "Wicked Game", and "Runaway", and "Gronlandic Edit".

If I had drawn Glenny, I swear to god I would have done a cover of St. Elmo's Fire by John Parr instead of Brian Eno. Or maybe some combination of the two.

A very large percentage of the songs that people picked, I had not heard before this fight. A fair number are by artists I'd never even heard of. Which goes to show how non-overlapping different people's areas of music knowledge actually can be.

Ha, awesome stuff Melvin! I particularly like how you have made it a lot chunkier. Impressive work, you might be able to get a job as a Beck impressionist.

The fix is in! I finally figured out what was wrong with my laptop (I needed to fix some settings that I hadn't touched since installing the new hard drive). Song coming soon!

You are very welcome, my sausagey friend! I had a great time making the song.

Eddie Bangs -- you have amazed me! I cannot get over the stunning production quality and brilliant vocal performance on your track! I think it's a Christmas Miracle that my name was drawn by someone with the chops (and confidence) to create such a high-fidelity rendition of this great song. Kudos and thank you!!

Dude, thanks so much, really! To tell you the truth the real Christmas Miracle is that half way through recording this cover my wife announced she is pregnant, so this silly song will always remind me of that!
I am really glad you like it and I truly had a lot of fun with it. Happy GOM!

Sausage Boy - oh, man! my very own Church of the Poison Mind! Listening to this cover is like seeing the bones of the song in an evil glow of a technicolor looney-tunes x-ray machine - then be electrocuted! Ha ha, I'm going to go listen to it again.

I've got to say, I'm not surprised about the quality and the fun-n-games of the GOMs but I was surprised at how pretty some of them were. A favorite is The Watchman's Gone. But maybe the standout is I Want You Back. Something about hearing those 70's songs light up like that! I dug Baby Come Back, too. True fun, everyone, glad I could also play.

I felt it too. What a great group of songs. I've been listening to them all week on the pod.

Also, to the Hell Yeahs for keeping the production real. The quick fade out was really important and you kept it REAL! Fuck yeah! I want to hear you two do chick habit next. I love that old shiz!

bz£, I apologize for the latency, but I could not find the lyrics to this tune anywhere. I wrote an e-mail to the remaining members of the band, and they only got back to me today.

So with wishes of health, wealth, and wisdom in the new year, I present you my belated arrangement of

Missile Command, by Shallow: http://www.bfrank.org/The%20White%20Hat ... ommand.mp3
My other music is Old Time / shape note.

You know what's cool? I just realized today that Anti-M's cover is of the same song that's covered in the new Geico commercials - very different versions.
I think Anti-M's song is my favorite of the GOM.
