Doc Worm, this is separate from coverfight so welcome aboard.
And Neil, yes others have heard of the Sneaker Pimps. But only Becoming X is "cliche, boring and drawn out techno/crap". But without Kelli Dayton, they stopped sounding like that. If you can find "Splinter" (not released in the US), it's an awesome album.

In! To make it less challengifying this year, here are four songs that the rock and roll band "charcoal" have already covered at some point in the past. Because if I can do it, anyone can.
Powerline: by Husker du
Charlotte sometimes: by the Cure
Ninety-nine red ballons: by Nena
New dawn fades: by Joy division

"The Landfills" are in. Like many others, I'm gonna need a few days to get a list of songs together-- but they will be assembled and posted.
This year, I promise I will "Landfillize" something, unlike last year, where I went for the "as-faithful-as-I-can-be-while-lacking-musical-skills" method.
ROCK!

Hey, Adjuster, you did the cover for me last year and I never complained that you didnn't Landfillize it. It would've been cool but your cover of BBR's "Child Psychology" was great and I still listen to it more than the original.

neat.. my band covers this song. actually we do kind of a hybrid mixture of the original and the moby version. (for example, ours starts out with ground hum courtesy of a spare cable plugged into the second input on my bass amp, which i step on the other end...)

Wish list, so tough to narrow down, these should be fun enough:
1-Pavement - Cut Your Hair
2-Neil Diamond - Love On The Rocks
3-Breeders - Cannonball
4-Go Go's - Head Over Heels
("Pearl of The Quarter" -or- "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" would suit me just fine... Great songs I'd never expect to see referenced here...)

Unlike the last coverfight, who gets what person in the GoM is completely random. So, hope for the best.

So far, I've seen a song on just about everybody's list that I'd have a lot of fun covering. In fact, I've got 'Head Over Heels' by the Go-Gos stuck in my head now.

Eh sorry If I was to quick to judge them, for I have only heard the becoming x album.

Ok, rather then try to assemble the perfect list of four songs I'd like to hear covered, I'm just gonna toss out some that I'm keen on.
1. Memories of Love by Future Bible Heroes
2. Lemon Meringue by Poe
3. Flower's Grave by Tom Waits
4. Don't Try Suicide by Queen

From the Primitive Screwheads comes a list, and a hearty "We're in!" Merry Freaking Christmas to all!
"DMV" - Primus
"Brother Wolf Sister Moon" - The Cult
"Over the Rails" - Rubber Chicken Lollipop
"Buy My Snake Oil" - Jello Biafra & Mojo Nixon
MP3s can be provided, as I may be the only Rubber Chicken Lollipop fan on these boards, heh.

A couple of reruns and some new faces this year (Man, do I want to list more than four songs this year).
1. Josh Joplin Group - "Trailways"
2. Billy Joel - "Summer, Highland Falls"
3. Leonard Cohen - "Hallelujah" (Yes, I know there are like seven other covers of this song floating around. I wouldn't mind another.)
4. The Decemberists - "Los Angeles, I'm Yours"
Needless to say, I'm in again.
