Last night was BSS night. Tonight instead of finishing my cover, I wrote a song of my own for "Oh My Soul" and made this demo. It's sort of an alt-country song that tries to very lightly touch upon current affairs, with some tongue in cheek.

Sounds really good for a "demo." I hope you submit this!

Oh ok, fine. :) I won't really have time to make a more fleshed out version for a while anyway...

Tonight I only had 1-2 hours. In that time I managed to learn a Future Boy song that I really like a lot and record a demo of me covering it. I used my Yamaha reface CP's Wurlitzer patch which I think does a good approximation of Future Boy's awesome sounding Rhodes. Most of his songs are way too complicated for me to play on the keys, but this one is pretty straightforward and gospel-y. It came to mind as I was noodling on the Wurlitzer patch. Anyway, here's the demo.

I'm getting tired! 12 more days!

So tired. Had to do this one after we got home from seeing "Dr. Katz Live". I guess maybe it's a bit of a lullaby. Zzzzzz....

Very tired still, and another night of trying to fit some music in at the end of the day as fast as I can. Here's a little early Iron & Wine sounding instrumental. I'm sighing at the beginning because of how I wasn't able to play the parts I heard in my head all the way through without messing up over and over. I have to punch in and piece things together, which was pretty frustrating.

Oh, I forgot to mention, that weird thing in the picture is the Spider Capo which is a neat capo that Ken got me a while back that lets you capo any combo of 1-6 strings. I used it to capo just the D string at the 7th fret, and then all my hand fretting was done actually behind the capo. Pretty cool! I wrote the parts without it at first but it was too hard for me to play, then I remembered I had that capo and it made things way easier, not having to keep one finger stretched out to that 7th fret. Thanks Ken!

Very pretty and very appropriate for the rainy weather we've been having.

Here's the conclusion of the cover I started last week. I had grand designs but ran out of steam and it's not quite as amazing as I would have liked. Also at this point I'm feeling pretty burnt out from this month even though is't only been 20 days that I've been doing this! Anyway, here's a cover of DJ Snake's "Let Me Love You":

Last night was BSS night. Expect a rambling jam of an entry for the upcoming "It Hasn't Hit Me Yet" fight.

Tonight is the eve of my 40th birthday so I wrote a quick little folk song about how I'm feeling.

A sad instrumental today, influenced by the sad state of affairs with American immigration etc.

Tonight Ken and I and another friend of ours (somebody I met back in Jonathan Mann's band years ago) got together to jam, with no plan ahead of time what we would do. We wound up doing a minor key version of "Higher and Higher" with the lyrics also inverted for modern times, so, "Your hate keeps dragging me lower". I'll post the mp3 tomorrow.

Aaaand here's tonight's music. It's the last day of the month, so, I could be done. But I missed three days at the beginning of the month, and, I like to go out on a celebratory song, so, I may keep going three more days to hit 31 days of working on music.
