Bug Problem

So they're in my bedroom now. But this was smaller and less curl-up looking than the original bugs. So I don't know what these ones are. But still.

Not fun.

It's a house centipede alright. I used to have them all over the place when I lived in the basement. My cat loved 'em! They're pretty harmless but they are really spooky all comin' a hellin across the wall or the floor at light speed...as long as they're under 3 inches in length, they don't even have a very strong bite. Besides, they'd run before they bite.

I used to be an exterminator, there is all natural, plant-based powder insecticide that you can puff into walls that'll kill 'em. They live in moist areas of the house though, may want to make sure you have no water leaks or anything. They like to eat other bugs. They like moist wood areas, hang out around basements alot, and are found esp. in older buildings / older wood (circa 1950 and earlier). They are harmless. And very interactive! Their bite is like a mosquito bite.

Cat's love 'em. My cat used to chew all the legs off of them and I'd find the bodies all around without legs. The ones I used to see were 2-3 inches in length. Good sport for a cat!

Hm. That totally beats my little 1 inch bugs.

The weird thing is we have a finished basement, and our house is... 12? 14 years old? Pretty new in comparison to other houses around here. However this is a perfect excuse for us to get a cat

my mom's work once got a fruit basket given to them as a gift. they put it in the fridge right away instead of grabbing fruit out. when they took it out to try some fruit, they found an adult black widow spider in it, which was luckily torpid because of being in the cold, so they were able to capture it in a specimen bottle (my mom's a bacteriologist). phew! dangerous critters.
