On a related note....Go
Royal Navy!!
When Britain first at Heav'n's command
Arose from out the azure main;
This was the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sang this strain;
Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves:
Britons never will be slaves

Well, a new Botham has been found and now we've got a series on our hands!
as much as it hurts to loose one - it is good to see that the Poms didn't roll over and die again
(It was dirty trick though, leaving cricet balls lying around for Pigeon McGrath to step on)

When I posted previously - I didn't know the results of the fifth day - I just assumed we lost.
But wow - what an amazing test match!
Yes - go ahead and enjoy it - even I can feel no ill will after that one.
Time to pull out he biggest sporting cliche of them all:
CRICKET WAS THE REAL WINNER!
I just hope you lads can keep it up for 3 more (and that McGraths leg gets better - I hear that the cricket ball he trod on has been short-listed for the New Years Honours List)

Oooh, there's catty for you!
You're right though: Fantastic finish - so close it could have gone either way... Cricket was the winner.

Right - I've had enough, where's my bat - I'm getting the next plane to England.
Hayden, Martin, Langer, Kattich - you're all being deported to New Zealand. And Gilly! What have they done to you Gilly!?!
Me, Warney, Punter and the Pigeon should be able sort this mess out for the final 2 tests.
3rd Test Man-of-the-Match: half a day of Manchester rain.

True and sad.
Actually it's quite exciting really. We both stand a good chance of winning half a bail... Or is it stump?
Perhaps instead of the 3rd and 4th tests they should songfight for the ashes.

With blonde-haired fast-bowling dynamo and rock musician extrodinaire Brett Lee in the team - that would suit us fine!
http://www.brettlee.net/didyouknow.php
"Brett is part of a band "Six and Out" comprised of fellow NSW cricketers: Richard Chee Quee, Brad McNamara, Gavin Robertson and his brother, Shane. They have released a CD Six & Out and a stand alone EP Bring It On. Brett plays bass and provides some vocals."
Or are you suggesting it come down to you, J$ and Andy Balham vs. me, Sausage Boy and Denyer? (if so, I'll definitely be praying for rain

)

I tried to find the song but couldn't (404'd) so here's a lyrical excerpt to cool the fevered brow...
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

Is it too early to forget cricket and start talking about the Commonwealth Games?
(Oh... and Stuey - I think you've been Stateside too long - "sport" doesn't have an "s" at the end of it)

Quite right lazy nasty habit.

Unfortunately if you are here long enough it happens quite insidiously. Will try to do better!
