Rik - No, I actually don't agree at all. Weasel is welcome to critique my song however he/she wishes, but to suggest that I've plagarized/borrow/lifted/recycled/ripped off someone's style or song is offensive to me. Obviously truth is a defense, so I'd love to hear from Weasel where I've gotten my song from.

Wow, hey sorry you got a bee in your bonnet. My point was that to me your song sounded competently made, it's just there weren't many fresh ideas going on in it. That's all.
PS - Listen to God Ween Satan and you can hear loads of this kind of stuff. There, if you're still offended you're just upset that I didn't dig it I guess?

I completely disagree with you guys about your take on Weasel's review, but I don't want to distract the discussion from the song reviews. So that's last thing I'll say.
Sincere thanks to the other reviewers however; very helpful.

You are entitled to disagree. He is also entitled to state that it sounds familiar, so familiar that he wonders (WONDERS) if this is not an original idea.
So basically, his review is that your song is not very original in HIS OPINION. Calling him names is childish. Argue about why you believe your idea is or is not original, don't waste everyone's time with name calling and semantics.
Of course, I enjoy a good name calling session when in humour... but frankly, you really have no humour angle on your post.
Now I'm gonna have to listen to your song... see? Negative reveiws can generate interest as much if not more than positive!

Yeah, well, when you've been here a couple weeks you'll realize that we talk like that around here. Just take it as the way one particular person reacted to your music... it sounded like some other stuff they've heard.
And, I mean, read that whole review thing and it's pretty clear that none of it should be taken entirely literally. Arizona Ice Tea isn't like Long Island Ice Tea, but, y'know, maybe they were drinking some of that, too.

Glad to hear you liked the panning vocals, after recording them the first thing we did was add reverb to the main vocals and I didn’t like it and asked Richard to change it and it took a long time but I think we got it right and I’m glad you agree. As is often the case, I recorded more than I thought we would use and we liked it so much we kept it, so yes, the rooti tootis do go a little overboard.

Likes: Guitar chops and the tones/effects your using
Dislikes: Meanders with little variety, especially in the vocals, should be a little more gruff or charismatic
Sounds Like: Somebody singing over an unreleased Ween track

Likes: Dreamy guitar floating above a western feel, the distorted part is very cool and unexpected. Second vocals are a smart touch, mostly I love the guitar interaction, it’s awesome.
Dislikes: Don’t feel the vocals fit the song as well as they could, during the chorus when you say “that your saferâ€

Alot of people have mentioned a country feel to my music. I don't listen to country music much. We don't really get country music in England, it's certainly not on the radio. So I guess it's just coincidental that I've found a similar sound.
On a different note, there should be an aditional challenge one week to make songs that sound like Tom Waits! That would be ace!

Somebody didn't get the memo about this week's secondary optional challenge.
It would seem that Tom Waits has usurped the "everybody here sounds like" spot from They Might Be Giants. I wonder how we all went from sounding like cool, goofy nerds to crazy, hoarse old, brooding men.
