I would love to do this again... but that being said, we have a lot of time restrictions in the Redmon household these days. It would ultimately be up to Phil whether or not the Hell Yeahs are in. Since he is the reason for the no "Abominizing" rule, (because of his pigeonhole-ism he was the only one who didn't get a song in return) I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to be involved, but we'll see. Niv did say no one gets left out this time. If the Hell Yeahs are in, my list will be posted soon...

Well, not the only one. But apparently TSI has perfected that King Arthur sound and I'll be getting mine any day now...

Man, sorry about that Charles, I didn't know you were screwed over too. Sober can be a real chump. At least you know who did you wrong, Phil still doesn't know who his gifter was.

I guess I should spill my guts here. (I already did once, maybe Phil missed the post)

I got Phil last year for GoM, and I am the one who 'stiffed' him. I'm sorry Phil, your choices did sort of pigeonhole me into one song, which I was fine with, and I got 'Don't Believe A Word' about half done. My life suddenly went into turmoil in November of last year, I moved, got *crazy* busy at work, had to deal with a sister in love with a cokehead, etc etc etc. This is not an excuse for my flaking out, but hopefully you understand. And to make things worse, when things finally got back to halfway normal, I tried to finish the recording and whether I was bummed out in general or just had a bad spell, everything I tried recording sounded like complete ass. I didn't want to give you a song that was complete ass, 3 months late. I'm not going to join this GoM this year (because, well, I flaked out last year and doubt I'd even be welcome in it) but I promise you this: I will finish your song (or completely re-do it if need be) and you will have it by the time this year's GoM is due.

Hopefully, you won't hold any grudges or hard feelings, dude. Sorry.

Stay fresh!

I was already quite familiar with the Melvins tune (I love the Melvins) and, uh, yeah, I've watched my share of Benny Hill ;) The other one, didn't like it.

You can't cover the Melvins. It's just not done. So Thin Lizzy it was.

Alright, I've spent too long on these boards, and other than my one sad Song Fight entry, I haven't contributed music at all. So I'm in.

Koop - Summer Sun
Mum - Green Grass of Tunnel
The American Analog Set - The Postman (Track 16)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Snake Eater

MP3s upon request.

I can yousendit all of these in mp3 format if need be.

Architecture in Helsinki - "Like a Call" on Fingers Crossed
I think this Australian band is on the same label as The Spinto Band. They're playful and sound like about 12 people with various toys and bubble machines that can make music. Like a Call has pretty indistinguishable lyrics, but I've got a funny version of what I think they're saying if you want help. yousendit.com hosting for 7 days

Lightning Bolt - "Captain Caveman" on Hypermagic Mountain
Crazy lightning rock. This cover would be mostly musical since the lyrics are limited to a few words that the drummer shouts into a mic that is attached in the gas mask he wears on stage. yousendit.com hosting for 7 days http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2FM8 ... 8IP697F3XG

momotte - "Rue Emile Zola" on superamas
This French band does a sort of electronic bossa nova. Singing in French.
http://maisondrole.free.fr/momotte/superamas.htm Stream the realtime or you can download the whole EP by clicking on the big gothic letters that say "telechargez superamas"
lyrics: http://maisondrole.free.fr/momotte/parzola.htm

CocoRosie - "Beautiful Boyz" on Noah's Ark
These two girls are crazy and a lot of people hate them, but I don't. I'd like to hear if you can mimic the fullness of their tracks. We'll pick something off the new album for novelty's sake. The second track has Antony from Antony and the Johnsons on it .. so we'll go with it. Stream the whole album:http://stream.qtv.apple.com/qtv/toolshe ... rk_ref.mov

Phil, I hope you do participate in this year's GoM. "Charlotte Sometimes" by the Hell Yeahs is my favorite GoM tune of all time. And I hope you didn't take the abominizing comment as some kind of slam.

I think before we get 2005 GoM we should clear up those who were left out in last year's. How about it, folks?

i know you did, and it was awesome. the "bah humbug" was really just for dramatic effect. i am going to hold off on the sidefights for a while, so I was going to not be in even before I remembered what happened last year.

on the other hand, i have 3 weeks to change my mind right?

I will do the same "I am in, but reserve the right to pick 4 songs" method.

I just can't think clearly at the moment, but I am in.

ROCK!

Thanks Niveous! I love that song too! Phil and I both had a good laugh about the no Abominizing comment, so no hard feelings at all!

I really had no idea that people like KA and Starfinger got left out last year too. Something should be done about it before we all get involved in GoM '05... but what??

I would be happy to do what I can to give to those who did not receive last year. The question is... what to give?

I'd like to switch my Paul Simon's "My Little Town" out for The Flaming Lips' "Suddenly Everything Has Changed." And my "Mr. Blue Sky" out for "In the City" by I dunno, but it's the song at the end of the Warriors.
