Drunk, Drunk, Drunk, Drunk, Drunk (Five Nights in Britain)
Logathing-Uh...the vocals have nothing to do with the quiet music at the beginning...oh wait heres a cool part from monty python...then more quiet music and bad singing...
Bjam-Likin it. I like the guitar riffs and singing is cool. Maybe turn the guitar up. But otherwise its cool. I like it.
Chuckchuckmoose- This is cool. I like the jazzy tone its awesome. Nice jazzy singing. I like the keyboard solo and the trumpet stuff. Good song.
Damien The Jerk- I like the lyrics and the nintendo bass and samples. YEAH my favorite part was the keyboard singing thingy. I like this song, bud. Do a guitar song next week!
DarkLiberty-I like the drum samples and stuff. Not liking the singing as much but its ok. I like the cool Ramones riff you used. This is ok.
FourthDoctor- Cool wierd bass line. I like it. Theres like no singing but its cool. Nice job.
Hottubcombo- Hahaha this is funny. Im sure it was supposed to be funny right? otherwise i like the extremely loud drums and piano. and the lalalala part. Funny.
Ipa- Yeah accordian with guitar! nice. The singing is cool. This is one of the better ones I'd say. But I doubt you know everything...
JesseCooper- I cant really hear much, just muffled singing and acoustic guitar. Sounds cool, but I wish I could hear it a bit better.
JohnnyCashPoint-This is really cool. Espessially the British accent. This is my favorite so far dude. Maybe. I dont know. Its really good though, nice job!
Klownhole- Yeahhh! nice insanity!....ok moving on...
MCPaulDenyer- dis bass line is so rockin bro. i be like whoa bra dis be insane...If only I like reapeting base lines that dont stop...Man I have to turn this off its bad. Sorry.
Melvin- Yeah! This is nicely done, but i didnt think it would be bad, because Ive heard your old songs. This is a great song. Keep doing a great job Melvin!
MM- This sounds like the singer for nine inch nails. I don't like him. But its actually ok I do like this song more than some of the others. Catchy bass line. Good job!
MrmanDrfunk- Jordans voice just leaves an imprint in your heart. Man that other guy has a horrible voice though. Haha
SonsofSuperCar-Wow I really like this. Ha it gets crazy. This is a really good song, Im lovin it. badabababa
StateShirt- The vocals echo into my heart. Keep making music like this and youll win my vote. You may have it right now.
SteveGamble- This is kinda comical. Hahaha torture chamber. This is hilarious. Ill listen to this a million times before im done. Haha nice coldplay reference.
ThoseMeddlingKids- I like the drums and guitar lick. The singing is ok, but could use improvement. Its not bad though. I dig the kazoos!
TinyRobots- This is my favorite song and the one I'm probably voting for. I love you, TinyRobots. Jordan Seavers is nothing compared to you. Oh is jordan reading this? Just kidding I wont compare. I love your voice too, whatever your name is. One of my favorites of any band.
TommySheets- Man, you got the spot right after TinyRobots...
Hey but this is catchy though, espessially the drums. You sound like a country singer. Not a bad thing. A good country singer.
Veuveclique- If thats real piano at the beggining its awesome. Oh then the singing kicks in...

I'll have to come back and do reviews now just for posting, but I have to say this. My eldest daughter who's a wonderful mimic like myself does this voice from the "Blues Brothers" movie. There's this scene after Jake and Elwood are trying to locate former band members and go into a former rooming house of some of the guys in the band. After they leave dejected without a lead they're sitting in the car when this hispanic woman who ran the boarding house comes running out yelling "Mr. Man! Mr. Man!" and hand them a matchbook with a phone number on it. Funny stuff. The really funny part is when my daughter says it in that voice my dachshund growls at her, every time. I mean he really hates it.
It's become somewhat of a joke around the house now. Without fail, she can do this "Mr. Man, Mr. Man" with the mimiced voice and the dog growls at her. And he means it.
It's funny to me and the 4 others looking over my shoulder. It may not be to the rest of you, but it is to us.
Back to your regularly scheduled thread. I'll be back later with reviews.

I don't have full reviews yet. But the songs I downloaded to give further listens to are:
M.C. Friend: Decent rapping skills and the 2nd half of the song is better than the 1st half.
Melvin: Another solid effort from someone who never misses.
Bjam: I'm a sucker for female singers. I'm not sure yet this has what it takes for a vote though.
Tiny Robots: See Bjam lol
Klownhole: It starts to get a little too chaotic towards the end, but I like how it sounds in the beginning. I don't know why I like some of your songs, but something makes me laugh enough that I keep listening.
I honestly don't know who I'll end up voting for out of these 5. Luckily I have several days to listen to them if I have to, although I'll probably vote by the end of the weekend.

A-Log
Is that a click track? This is all rather disjointed. The music stops after every repeat. Which is, y'know, cool a few times, but every time it just makes it seem like you can't do music. The vocals are pretty bad. I liked the little synth bass breakdown. Using a cheap mic? The 'all together now' makes me think of desperate people at open mic that no one is into, but they legitimately want to do good music. This is kinda bad. Sorry.
Bjam
Elle est moi. Done as part of an AAD. Tamobourines are fun. Tried to sound very American, failed. Blah blah. Excuses excuses.
Chuck Chuck Moose
Oh oh. The music's sounding totally porn groove/80s cop show. Vocals could be stronger. Trumpet's very cute, but aids the porn groove image, maybe that's a good thing, I don't know. Drums are nice. It's a pretty good grooving song, but nothing really gets it moving into 'awesome' territory. Nice song, good job.
Damien Verrett
Oh, someone tagged their song funny. The nintendo samples are cute, and the music really isn't that bad, but boy, get confident with your vocals. They don't sound that bad, but you should try and do some emotion. Even if you sound a little off, at least you'll sound into it.
Dark Liberty
Let us all click 'drum fill' on our casio and make an intro. I get what you were going for, but it just doesn't work for me. Well done on turning up your vocals though.
Fourth Doctor
The music's bland, the voice is inaudible. It's intime, and I guess the production is pretty good for what it is, but ultimately it's got no hook. Gimme an awesome little synthy hook and this would get you grooving.
Hot Tub Combo
Sounds like a badly recorded live concert. The piano's nice, as are the drums, and the vocals. But everything's so distant and far away. Come closer. Closer. Everything just needs to be tighter, but for what it is (a poor man's Coldplay from what I can tell), it's pretty cute. It's also pretty long.
The I.P.A.
Everything sounds so very up and down. The seasickness thing someone mentioned earlier is spot on. It's good, but it's just not pleasing. The guitar riff and the accordian is nice, but hearing it repeated for 3 minutes isn't my idea of fun. Some good drums would be awesome for this. The steel thing works, but I kinda want real rock drums in the singing parts. Put the drum breakdown when the chorus/verse starts getting repetetive, then break into the chorus again, but with way more rock.
Jesse Cooper
Hm, aren't we a budding coffeeshop singer-songwriter? Seriously, this is cute. The guitar riff is familliar, and to be honest not that different to what I've heard before. It sounds better on my laptop speakers than my desktop ones. There's a lotta hiss/background noise, but I think that's just crappy recording. Ultimately it's a cute lonely singer/songwriter tune.
Johnny Cashpoint
"Nice accent, I hope it's fake." Heh, that review amused me. This is very happy and cute. I wish the ending was better. And I could see some cute synth in here to make it very... cute. I keep thinking of "It's a jolly holiday" from Mary Poppins when I hear this.
Klownhole
Not my thing. Too screamy, too rocky. It's just genre bias, sorry.
MC Paul Denyer
Eh. Not my thing. The 'ah-ahah's are kinda nice. I can tell that you're good at this, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe with some interesting music and a better chorus this could be good.
Melvin
Mmm, indie pop rock. But, y'know, it's well produced, it's tight, got lots of good instrumentation. The little breakdown with the vocals are nice. Sometimes the 'backing vocals' are kinda loud. If you found a guy whose voice really melds well with yours you could get some crazy awesome vocal stuff going on.
Motor Monkeys
Eh. The vocals are too much. Everything's just okay. No one thing stands out and pops. It's an okay song, just it's really boring after a while. But good job nonetheless, because if it came on the radio while driving along I'd probably rock out. The ending sucks though. Speeding up? Blah.
Mr. Man and Dr. Funk
Okay. I read all your shit on the boards and thought "Oh, great, more teenagers who think they're all that because 'OMG MOM IM ON THE INTERNET'" so if I was to pick 5 songs from this fight to listen to, I wouldn't've picked yours. Because you guys act sillier than the music you put out. This is actually a pretty tight song, and everything works well, and the singer has a good voice and whatnot. But y'know, first impressions. There's too much crap on the internet, and you can be written off real quickly. And that's that.
sonofsupercar
Not really my thing. It's good for what it is, but ultimately I just can't get into it. Personal genre preference.
State Shirt
Seems like you should be playing to a music festival full of muddy people rocking out at 10 at night. I dig it. The guitar gets very heavy at some points, but there's something that picks it up. Vocals are good for what they are. Remind me of someone, but I can't think who. Ultimately a good song, just nothing that's grabbing it into that great category.
Steve Gamble
This came straight after a rocking full band, but this has a cute appeal. The 'Alf' thing is just bizarre. The little guitar solo thing is cute. The multiple voice layering thing works well here. It's cute but nothing makes me go "oh wow"
Those Meddling Kids
You've got all these cute videogame esque noises, and then there's random guitar. I dunno. Something there is making me get dislodged in the music. This is cute, but there's nothing popping. The vocals are good, if a little quiet and standard. Kazoo breakdown. Bonus points. Someday I'll do a song with cowbell, maracas, handclaps, kazoo, female vocals, awesome drums, and melt your face guitar solos, and then I will Songfight. Okay, by the end of this I quite liked it. Good job.
Tiny Robots
Not a fan of the doubled vocals here. Makes it seem a little disjointed. The guitar/slide/"wyoooowYOOOOW" thing is nice, but I'm not sure how well it melds with everything else. A very good song, very cute, but I wish it had something that popped. Something very cool. The bridge/non-vocal part is nice, but I think, could have done without the "Doodoos".
Tommy sheets
Ooh, quite quiet vocals. Turn them up. The song is just kinda floating along. If it came on the radio I'd recognise that it was there, then forget and start talking to someone. And when you listen on the laptop speakers it sounds like just drums and very quite vocals. Not such a rocking mix, but there's potential down there. Keep digging.
Veuve Clique
Piano's good. Everything else sucks. Good job for being the first song I skip 30 seconds in.

You have to see 2 things to fully understand. The Blues Brothers movie, and the way this little dog reacts when my daughter goes "Mr. Man! Mr. Man".Mr. Man wrote:Dan-O, what in the world are you talking about?
Bascially she was looking over my shoulder last night and saw your screen name, did the voice, the dog growled at her, and we all had a good laugh. I guess you could say your name is a hit in our house (EDIT: except with the dog). I'll let you know about the song later.

A-Log - you have a million rhythms that don't have anything to do with each other. Voice, synthesizer, those drumset samples, and that retarded metronome, all seeming to exist in their own little world. I guess your samples are British. Um, why did you say "all together now"? It's just you.
Bjam - I like the major-minor thing in your opening riff. I think you could stand to be more melodically interesting -- like the part towards the end where your voice jumps up, that's cool. Overall it's sitting in the same five-note range the entire time. It's a nice song though.
Chuck Chuck Moose - you guys are some groovy motherfuckers. Your voice reminds me very strongly of someone... I think it's Eagle-Eye Cherry. I like it anyway. I really like what you guys are doing here, it's not particularly exciting or novel, it's just cool. I like that guitar solo a lot. I think you should take the horns down or out at that part, they kinda cover it up. Nit-picking, anyway, really groovy song. It'd be fun to play in a live band like this sometimes and just chill.
Jonas Murdock and the Child Inside/Damien Verrett/whatever - you have a very distinctive synthesizer sound. The problem with it is that it sounds like a square-wave preset. I like what you do with your vocal rhythms but this song seems more disjointed than last week's.
Dark Liberty - I think this one holds my interest better than your song in the other fight. Not snarly enough. I like the length though.
Fourth Doctor - good beats and assorted noises. Is that flanger on the vocals? It's a little annoying. I think actual singing might have worked better. Ok, the sixteenth note vocal chops are really annoying. I like the lyrics at the end though, I couldn't really tell what you were saying the rest of the time.
Hot Tub Combo - sounds cool, but are you recording in an empty warehouse, underwater, perhaps? I really think I would like this if I could tell what the hell was going on through all that reverb... it sounds pretty poppy except for the wonky drums.
The I.P.A. - accordian rock. I kinda like the singing. Does your drumset consist of a cymbal and a tambourine? ...oh, now there's some of... whatever that is. Pots and pans? This review kinda comes across as exclusively negative, but this song kinda grew on me. I like what you guys are doing.
Jesse Cooper - Jesse Cooper... or Jack Johnson? Eh, that's not really an insult, you just definitely have that vocal rhythmic groove. This is sounding quite good, really, it's just kinda sitting there the entire time, and I kinda like the lyrics. Sounds fine.
Johnny Cashpoint - get shuffly. I like the woos and wahs. It's just a bit goofy, not really doing it for me.
Klownhole - Watch out for Klownhole. I like the groove this is in. I've been saying groove a lot today, I think I'll lay off. The synthesizer seems a little out of place. But at least it's actually a song.
MC Friend/MC Paul Denyer/whatever - the noises are kinda neat but I don't like the lyrics at all. Listen to Tupac or something, he knows how to write a lyric. The song has a very dark feel but the lyrics just seem like random rhymes. I guess you were in prison, or something.
Melvin - this grabs and holds my interest more than last week's entry. Sounds like you should be looking for a band and a recording contract somewheres. You do your thing very well.
Motor Monkeys - rok rok rok rok. Sounds like it was fun to play. Not grabbing me though.
Mr. Man and Dr. Funk - alright, Gibbard, your secret is out. This is a very nice song, very well-done. I guess I don't have much to say about it, it's just nice to listen to and think about that girl in tenth grade I never asked out on a date even though I really wanted to and then she moved away that summer.
sonofsupercar - I like this a lot. Your voice is doing things to me, things I like. I love how it fits right against the guitar line. And those noises in the background, I like them a lot. Your song is really fitting into one of those words I don't want to say, and I like it. This is great. I want to hear about your tax evasion, please. Just one nit-pick, I think you could have shortened the guitar bit at the end, or changed it up a bit, notes, dynamics, whatever. Great song though.
State Shirt - nice song. Reminding me of someone in particular but I can't remember who. It feels very wintry. Good job.
Steve Gamble - this is pretty funny. I like it a lot better than your song in the other fight.
Those Meddling Kids - the singing is a little on the annoying side but I like the sounds you're making. I feel like that breaking-it-down was a good place to break it down, but a bad execution of the breakdown. I'm doing it again, this review sounds negative but it's really not, I like the song.
Tiny Robots - solid song. I love the slide guitar floating around on top. I'll say that I like it when your voice is doubled better than when it's on its own out there. I quite like it.
Tommy Sheets - I'm really running out of reviewing steam here, I don't have much to say, it's just fine, a bit boring.
Veuve Clique - the opening is promising. What? Where did it go? Now you're saying pussy, I don't know why. The guitar riff is pretty neat (I suppose that's a sample) but this song is a disjointed jangly mess. It's not even... that word I use too much. I think you probably realize this. Kind of a neat samply mush but I'd rather have oatmeal, with brown sugar, or something.
This was a really fun fight to listen to. so...

I didn't think acting silly had anything to do with how good your song is. But I'm sorry for the way I acted, it was very wrong.Bjam wrote:Mr. Man and Dr. Funk
And dan-O, I understand what you're saying. I think I might change my screen name. I'm not really a man. You could say I'm lying to all of you. And I'm sorry.

I guess I'm not in a great mood and my reviews are kinda harsh this week, oh well.
A-Log
Hm, pitch and tempo problems as others have noted. What's up with the vocals being hard panned to one side? I think they'd be better off in the center. The synth stuff is alright. Hm, decent beats coming in about 2/3rds through. Oh well, back to the atonal singing and rambling lyrics... Is it fading out? "All together now" was kinda funny. I'd say, work on getting everything in the same tempo and getting the vocals more on pitch.
Bjam
Ah, girltar. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "guytar"... The singing is mostly OK, though you sound like you're straining a bit on some of the loud held out notes. I think the percussion might sound better with the tambourine on the 2 and 4 and the cowbell on the 1 and 3, not the other way around as you have it, in that second chorus. Otherwise it's kinda of an average open mic sounding song.
Chuck Chuck Moose
Hm, that "jazz" edge just sounds kinda cheesy. The mix needs work, like maybe it could use doubled guitar or something, or maybe the vocals just sound kinda muffled. Or maybe you need to sing louder or something? I dunno. Actually the jazzy chords sound better during the chorus. It almost sounds like Sting or something. The verse just sounds a little too faux funky to me. The bridge is too cheesed out for me, and that guitar solo sounds a little off towards the end. I like the chorus, though.
Damien Verrett
Mmm, synthy. You need a pop filter or windscreen, at least a sock over your mic or something. And are your vocals clipping? I think you also need a hi-pass/lo-cut filter on your vocals, at like 180Hz or something. The casio-core-ness is wearing on me. I think I like the bridge the best of the song. There's more energy in it with the crazy drums or something.
Dark Liberty
Aargh, crappy fake drum intro. Dang, did you record the guitars through a tin can or something? They sound bad. Maybe it's intentional, given the subject matter of the song. "I can't believe how clever I am" amused me. What is happening in the bridge? I don't like it. Now what the hell is going on? Bizarre. At least it's a short song...
Fourth Doctor
Tom Baker, is that you? I don't remember if he was the 4th or not, though. Anyway, this is alright. It gets a little too repetitive and ambient for me after a while, though, and I start to lose interest. Ah, some vocals. "A bucket of snakes"? Wha? OK, now there's a new element in the mix, but it's still pretty repetitive and I'm losing interest again. I'm just not a trance/whatever music person, unfortunately.
Hot Tub Combo
Hm, were you trying to sound like Bright Eyes? It mostly sounds like a crappy recording. Is that clipping or something? Your drummer is really bad. Are you recording in a basement or bomb shelter or something? Maybe the drummer should have stood another 100' away from the mic, since what the piano player is doing is actually OK, and the singer is somewhat entertaining. The drums are really killing this for me, though. Damn, this is really long, and I can't take those drums anymore.
The I.P.A.
Is that accordion or something. Could be good... It's not really going anywhere, though... OK, singing, decent, but those drums suck, I just hear hi-hat and high end. I think there are too many things going on, too, and they're not well enough coordinated. Good idea to do that crescendo thing. I like the tremolo guitar after that. That last part is cool.
Jesse Cooper
Dang, is there something wrong with this mp3 or is it my computer? I'm hearing some heinous popping/clipping noises. Anyway, more fauxjazzle. This is a really quiet recording. "Great Britain's not that great" doesn't work for me, sounds corny. This might be better with more of a Chuck Chuck Moose sound...
Johnny Cashpoint
This song is fine, but it just sort of goes along. It's a little bland. I can't really identify with the copious references. The key change doesn't really renew my interest in it.
Klownhole
I think you guys should try a different vocal treatment, or at least not always have what sounds like a room full of people sitting around when the singer records, applauding at the end. More double kick drum, though, that would be awesome. Seriously, though, if you just did a circus music sounding section you'd be more like Mr. Bungle, which I would like.
MC Paul Denyer
That bass is lame. The "aahhs" are funny in a Chipmunk-y way. Man, this just goes on and on. You're rapping is not so great that I want to hear it for this long over that frankly uninteresting beat...
Melvin
Dude, is this Weezer? Only with auto-tuned vocals? It's like a cross between Weezer and Deshead. The drums in the whole intro crescendo are very Weezer-y in particular. Doh, then it heads into generic pop-punk territory, yuck. Hm, then it gets Weezer-y again with the synth part and the "ooh ooh ooh ooooh" part. I like that part a lot. Then it stays pretty Weezer-y, good. Aargh, lame pop-punk part again. OK, decent outro. Stick to ripping off Weezer, it's way better than when you rip off Blink 182 or whoever it would be.
Motor Monkeys
Intro reminds me of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" or whatever that song is called. Now it sounds like Throw Rag... eh, not much in it really grabs me, sorry. Decent performance and recording, just not my cuppa tea.
Mr. Man and Dr. Funk
Is that Jordan Seavers? Nice mix on this one. Nice end of the chorus. Is that somebody else singing, too? Not bad, though not as confident sounding. Hm, the same lyrics again. It might have been cool with a different set of lyrics the second time. Nice guitar solo. I like the bass playing. The guitar solo gets really good towards the end. Pretty mellow song and not too long to get boring.
sonofsupercar
I like this song quite a bit. I really like the verse riff and the harmonica and backwards-y bits. Nice drums in that part, too. I'm not really into the tone on the bass, but otherwise I like the recording/mix/etc. The cymbals seem kinda low and noisy, though maybe that's intentional. Anyway, this and the last song are definitely the top two for me to far.
State Shirt
This is another top song in the fight for me. Not much feedback about it other than it's kind of short and a little less intense than some of your other stuff, and I miss that intensity a bit. Good song, though.
Steve Gamble
This is funny, and the recording/performance are much better than the average for this type of song on SongFight! If this were the minimum quality level for humorous guytar songs here, SongFight! would be a much better place. I dig the Alf impression, of course.
Those Meddling Kids
I like the beat of this song for some reason. The lead guitar sounds good but the rhythm guitar sounds kinda crappy... Hm, whacky breakdown. Sweet, kazoo, that's like an automatic +50 points on SongFight! I like the part after the kazoo part. This song is really strange but I like it.
Tommy sheets
Dang, this is a lot of songs... This song is fine. I'm not really into the singing style. The drumbeat is a bit too repetitive for me. That double snare hit part of it happens way too many times. I like the tone of some of the guitars in the mix. There's a far away guitar part, and I like the tone of that particularly. Anyway, decent song.
Veuve Clique
The singing is a bit shaky. It's too low in the mix, too. The synth is too loud, I think. What the hell are the lyrics? I don't think I want to know... OK, this sucks...
Tiny Robots
This is us. I like this song. I think the verses and bridge maybe need some more work, but the choruses came out good. I like Erin's singing and Ken's drumming.

I just want to reiterate how cool I think SOS's track is this week; being an actual band with real drums is always gonna give you an edge and you've been around ages I know but it's only in this week's song and it's Guided by Voices-gone-Slint-iness tha's made me pay attention properly and get other people to listen to this. I promise I won't mention GBV and SOS again in the same sentence but (although they're not the world's greatest band) for me they're a massive inspiration and when you chuck some dark shit in there too it only gets better. I fucking love Slint, and now instead of telling people
"shut up, sit down and listen to Spiderland AND Alien Lanes"
I can just say
"sonofsupercar - FNIB; now fuck off and get some taste"
which makes me a happy bunny
ps. thanks for everybodies comments on the kazoo; I did it for you guys

Bjam i totally agree with you on the mr man-dr funk debate. Those are some really silly annoying teenagers ruining the site. I mean with your song, which in my opinion was the BEST ONE IVE EVER HEARD!!! Those annoying shakey vocals really added to the stupid riff that kept playing over and over. And your uptight personallity adds to the reason that i voted for you. NO BEING SILLY ON THIS SITE! Stick to reviewing songs instead of people. And i didn't really vote for your song...i didnt see any talent there.
