Happy New Year Erik.

I like you more than my posts suggest, seriously I do.

I just enjoy debating with you because I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE you can hold your own in a debate.

That's all I hope we were doing was debating. You're one of the most intelligent guys here, I would hate to lose a sparring partner over something as insignificant as this.

Man, if it's more than that then PM please.

As cool as I think that idea might be Fuffy, I fear I've pissed Erik off too much for that to ever happen.

Yeah, Ford = Mercury (= Mazda (= Volvo))). I say "Ford" because Ford is certainly the one who paid for the ad. I don't know if that was mentioned in the last two pages of posts; I skimmed them and they gave me a fucking headache.

I would like to take every automobile made by whatever that company was and ram it up their advertisers arse.

I fucking hate fucking car ads - especially fucking wanky fucking ones like that. I feel violated.

Why is it that some threads seem to rapidly go off topic and often end up as a bitch fest? Odd.

I thought this worked really well as a viral net marketing campaign. If I had faster ADSL I'd have watched more of them, but on the basis of getting people to your site this will have done the job.

Did anyone see the Ford KA commercial with the cat being de-capitated?

Yes! I forgot about that one. Now there's a cutting edge ad.

Maybe for their next one they can run over a dog or shoot a child.

"Have you heard that new Me$$iah album? It's music, man!"

"Well, this dish you cooked for me certainly is food, I'm just not sure what sort."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I made a valid construction.

I did not enjoy the advertising or it's technique. It did not make me want to buy a car. It did not make me want to buy a Mercury. (car)

It did make me visit a website. It did leave me remembering the name Mercury. However, both of these items in negative connotation. (One could argue that bad publicity = good publicity = any publicity)

Good day Gentlmen.

Well, they seem to have gotten ten people right here at songfight that might not have seen it otherwise (myself included) to watch at least one of their clips. Some liked it, some didn't. Marketers always shoot for eyeballs and play the percentages.

Also maybe the DVD version I got works better. As a DVD with the clips in a specific order it seemed like a quirky independent film. I browsed the site only after watching the DVD to get more of the story filled in.

I don't know how one can get the DVD version, but I probably got it by getting on one of a billion mailinglists by merit of buying a car (I never really understood why car manufacturers seem to target people who just bought a new car).

I watched acouple of the clips but the whole thing didn't seem very interesting to me. I have no idea how this is supposed to entice me to consider buying a Mercury.

How about this to blow your minds: Based on this ad, I trust the ad agency to develop a clever marketing campaign for my product, and therfore I'd hire them. Does it really matter if they helped sell any cars at all?
