By cream, we generally are referring to Half & Half, which isn't actually just milk. Also, a lot of people use non-dairy "creamers". So it's more of a colloquialism I suppose.

I drink mine black however.

When I want a day-ending migraine, I drink coffee. Other times, I don't bother.

While most people don't actually keep a carton of heavy cream in their fridge for coffee purposes, pretty much any convenience store coffee bar on earth has real cream, or half and half to put in your coffee. Milk in coffee is vile. Milk is for drinking, not putting in coffee. Cream (or non-dairy creamer) adds a rich smoothness to coffee, and takes the bitter edge off.

In North Vietnam we enjoyed their very dark Turkish style coffee with *gasp* condensed milk. IT'S AWSOME! I would not pursue this anywhere else, but yeah, awsome. It comes with the milk on the bottom of the glass, dark sludgy coffee floating above. You stir it up and sip your way to heaven with a fine slab of french bread.

cream when talking about coffee can be many forms of cream.

Cream can equal actual heavy cream
it can equal half and half (heavy cream/milk)
it can equal milk
it can equal any number of non dairy liquid creamers
it can equal any number of non dairy powder creamers
as roymond pointed out it can equal canned milks
etc...

Ah yes - in Indonesia it's called 'kopi su su' - and in my time there I also become addicted to it.

Kopiko lollies have kept me buzzing on many long drives between Mt Isa and Townsville - they are the instant cup of coffee you can carry in your pocket - they taste sensational. I think they are made in Indonesia - but they are readily available in Asian shops in Aus.


But back to this cream thing. Surely you don't put cream in espresso coffee do you? That's just barbaric. You can't make a cappacino or flat white with cream!

I get the impression from television that Americans seem to drink a lot of filter coffee. Like they have at McDonalds. Which tastes like poo. So I suppose it doesn't matter what you put in it. It will still taste like poo.

That's just the crap McDonalds ships off to 3rd world countries...... like Australia. The stuff they serve here in the States tastes a lot like poo as well from what I've heard, but some of us are smart enough to stay away from it, and McDonalds in general. Have you seen "Super size me"?

Anyway, coffee. It's good for warming up the vocals before singing, and of course a pick me up in the morning. I found this on the web and watched the episode as well. Good advice and a great cup of coffee I must say.

Coffee here ranges from very poor to pretty decent. We have it all...just the same... bad coffee at Waffle House & McDonalds (and I Dunkin Donuts? They BRAG about their coffee ...maybe it's just the ones in the south that suck) Starbucks burns their beans in the roast but I like that. Coffee houses that sell Seattle's Best brand are my target. It's a decent cup of coffee. I mean, there is obviously better but hey...it's pretty darn good. Then there are all the various store brands that you can 'filter brew' yourself at home. Some good..some bad...some very bad.

In other words... don't judge americans based on McDonalds coffee...or anything McDonalds for that matter. (I love their fries though...god I love those fries)

Starbucks is *nasty*

Starbucks tastes like burning. IT TASTES LIKE BURNING.

I like all kinds of coffee, but the only way I can just drink straight black coffee is if it's Tim Hortons. Nothing else cuts it.
