I didn't realize this was such a controversial topic. In any case, I am sort of offended that other people may be offended by my enjoying a hot dog with ketchup applied (in conjuction with mustard, of course). I was under the impression that ketchup was a traditional hot dog topping.

The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, in its recommendations for proper Hot Dog Etiquette capitulate only slightly to the public's general regard for ketchup, saying "Don't use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18."
or dont start... learn from infancy and you wont want to do bad things.
and i dont think i could say it better:
No, I won't condemn anyone for putting ketchup on a hot dog. This is the land of the free. And if someone wants to put ketchup on a hot dog and actually eat the awful thing, that is their right. It is also their right to put mayo or chocolate syrup or toenail clippings or cat hair on a hot dog. Sure, it would be disgusting and perverted, and they would be shaming themselves and their loved ones. But under our system of government, it is their right to be barbarians.

ketchup is a condiment. catsup is when you yell at a cat and then pour ketchup on its head.

Ketchup in general is pretty ass. There's much better (and tastier) ways to get tomato into your diet than by diluting it with corn syrup and vinegar.
On a similar note, French's yellow mustard is something of an abomination. It's the car-resting-on-cinder-blocks of mustards. Even Gulden's is a huge step up.

as yellow mustards go, i'd have to lean towards heinz of course (i think i'd get deported otherwise). but usually in my fridge i have ploughmans.
