In fact, if they leave early, after you're done, you should get all the money they paid. Bands don't entertain people who already left. Audiences should pay their covers when they leave, so each of the n bands can collect 1/n of the collected covers when they've finished. Note: I'm being intentionally stupid. There's obviously no formal system currently in place to disburse the cover charge. If audiences understood that their cover charge money would be so sloppily handled, half of them would have gone elsewhere. Cover charges always feel kind of like extortion to me, anyway; a huge disincentive. Not just because I'm a cheapskate, but because it's just so shady to have to hand cash to some guy on a stool while he pretends to look at your driver's license...
