movies i have rented and been unsure about how i felt about them most of the way through until i got to the end when i realised i would probably have to watch the movie again to fully appreciate it: the usual suspects, fight club, punch-drunk love.

movies i have felt this way about and proceeded to watch the rented copy at least one or two more times, and ultimately ended up purchasing: the usual suspects, fight club.

movies i have felt this way about and shortly thereafter returned to the video store anyway: punch-drunk love.

i'm not really sure i got enough out of this movie to really review it properly. i wouldn't say the time i spent watching it was wasted, but i can't shake the feeling that it was striving very hard to make some grandiose point and the presentation was just too subdued to really say what it was trying to.
