My "butterfly massacre" (tomdg) was also a response to the Iraq war (and the Afghanistan conflict, and the other things which followed 9/11):

The lyrics are still on ye olde lyric thread:

It got one vote, which makes it by far the most popular song I've posted to SongFight!

This is sort of a dubious song about going to war. Not from songfight, but by a songfighter.

Thanks for the pointers. I'm still collecting these; I'll be taking a class on "Art and War" in the fall, and the prof who teaches this course likes to have people bring things in to play for the class.

"By a songfighter" is close enough for me, and it doesn't have to be the current war... Caravan Ray's "Massive Intelligence Failure" is a relationship song (sorta :-)) that uses war imagery to tell its story, and even something like that is related to "art and war."

hmmm.. I may have suggested it was more a political rant that uses 'relationship imagery' (and double entendres) as a vehicle for it's delivery. Whatever - good luck - I hope you find it useful!

(BTW: I recall there were a few very specific references to domestic Australian politics in that - let me know if you need any of it de-cyphered)

Yeah, well, it works both ways. That's why it's art :-)

Gert's I Hate You is about terrorism; yes, I'm serious.

Sample lyric:

Sweet loving woman (the terrorist)
I do remember when you tore it up (i.e. 9/11) but sure enough I say:
Lord knows there's got to be another way
But I just want to hide inside and hate you

Of course, when I sang the chorus I had no a idea about this...so I was singing about a personal experience with a past significant other...but yes, the key is Tonetripper's line about "dropping bombs". Although, once again, I thought TT was singing about some other kind of "bombs".

Flvxxvm Florvm's All Tan is about nuclear annihilation.

And I also have a song (not from Songfight) written from the perspective of a "survivalist" back in the 1980's who wishes that the USSR would nuke the US, so that only the survivalists would survive.

If you count science-fiction future wars, there are my "classic" Renegade Robots and Invasion: Earth!, but those are so poorly recorded that if you're going to play those for anybody you may want to record cover versions.

Is there still time for "Big Yankee Fan"?
I recall I liked Melvin's BYF, too.

Our "Ignorance Is Bliss" is in this realm, too.

Hey your highness,

My song for "Outside Paradise" fits this theme - one reviewer suggested I let you know.

Peace,

Ross
