Can someone just make a post clarifying the rules, so we don't have to look through the thread to figure it all out.

I would say, if you happen to write a song for your album that uses a songfight title for this week, and you want to enter it in a songfight? Absolutely. Go for it.
If you DO go that route, I would recommend that you don't post a link to the song until the actual fight is up, and that you only enter one fight, even if you end up writing songs for all of this week's titles. It's probably poor form to give people more time to listen to your entry than everyone else in the fight.
Case in point: When I did my album-a-day with Octothorpe, we wrote songs for all of the titles that were up that week, but we only posted an entry for the <a href="http://www.songfight.org/songpage.php?k ... ize">"Bite Size" fight</a>.
ROCK!

So it'd be bad form to collaborate any which way on a 35-minute song, eh?
Well, uh.. I think I'm in, even if it means a hastily-written 34-minute instrumental.
Here's a Web site, since everyone else is doing it.

I don't have a special page, but I do have a weblog. Eventually it'll have it's own little album space on my music page. But for now, it's down to just the weblog.
So... I guess I should be frantically working on songs, but I'm kinda sleepy and I'm wondering if I should sleep and dream up some ideas first instead.

I'm not usually very good at writing/recording when I'm tired, but you might be. If it were me, I'd drink lots of water, go to sleep "early", and maybe wake up without an alarm at night after a sleep cycle. Then recount what happens in my dream, write down whatever might be useful in a song, and head back to sleep.Bjam wrote:So... But that's me.

I had a weird dream last night. I was in a creepy house, and there was this rusty door ... I decided to open it, and before me lay a massive room - with a small, disgusting toilet full of carpet in the center. I flushed it and it sprayed me in the face. True story. I should totally write about it. Maybe it should be some sort of a representative song or something like Space Dye Vest.Plat wrote:Then recount what happens in my dream, write down whatever might be useful in a song, and head back to sleep.

You're a real "ideas man", aren't you Jolly Roger!jolly roger wrote:I saw the album-a-day thing and this idea kind of hit me. I'm not sure if it's been done, but if it hasn't, I think it could be pretty awesome. So here's the idea.
This could be an official Songfight thing, so it could be in place of the actual fights for about 3 weeks. There could be like 5 titles a week, and the favorites (not neccessarily by votes) could be put on a cd and people could buy it. This probably is just a dumb pipe dream of mine, but I think it could be pretty awesome if there was some work put into it.
Well, Nur Ein was a good one - so good luck to you.

I'm in.
EDIT: And I'm out. Life has thrown itself right in the path of this little project. Any album I even had time to record this week would be sloppy and seething with rage. Which, come to think of it, might be an improvement. Nonetheless, it ain't gonna happen.

Just a quick question. Where do the "twists for fun" come in? Were the twists the rules? Or are we gonna make more.... like there has to be an instrumental track... or a kazoo solo.... or there must be at least one track with studio banter in it.....
those are awful i know. Just wondering when the "WTF[F]" would come in.

You could use a similar argument for <a href="http://crapart.spacebar.org/aad/">'Album-a-day'</a>, I would think.j$ wrote:BTW, 'Album IN a week' surely. 'Album a week' implies you're doing more than one album, one per week.

#1: Write a song called "In the Desert" -or- "In the Dessert." Know which one you should use for your title.Bjam wrote:I guess Songfighters(who are not making the albums) can just start throwing out optional challenges.
