Man, that's a bit harsh. I had one bad day and just the one teensy victim, and you start calling me a psycho?

Oh, sorry, that's not what you meant? Never mind then, nothing to see here.

I'd like to do a sidefight where Sidemaster picks a fairy tale or children's story, and everybody writes and records songs to be used in the movie musical version of the story.

...or maybe not just chlidren's storys - turn any movie or novel into a musical.

eg. the movie "The Tall Guy" which features a musical version of "The Elephant Man" - or The Simpsons which has had musicals of "Planet of the Apes" and "Streetcar Named Dessier".

Oh jeez, that's brilliant. Here's hoping it's from the non-sanitized versions of the Grimm's ouvre!

"Into the Oven" would be an awesome entry (Hansel & Gretel). Total psychotic march, there. Bliss.

I say we go with nothing but SideFights and give up SongFight altogether.

Not that I particpate in the latter enough to have a voice in it, just saying the SideFight volume is starting to make me dizzy.

What do you participate in, anyway? I see 4 entries credited to you in the archive. Do you belong to some other collective or something?

I did something like that one time, but I just asked people to perform the songs. maybe you could do that. i'd love to do the song the vultures do, btw. we're your friiiiiiiiiieeeeeeends.

THAT BESIDE, I'd like to see a sidefight where we cover TV themes. I'd do either Muppet Babies or the Perfect Strangers theme. or maybe WKRP In Cincinatti. or maybe Golden Girls. or maybe Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers. maybe Duck Tales. Top Cat. Three's Company. Welcome Back Kotter. ... they're all good.

The 'Sound of Music' was on telly here on the weekend. My daughter was totally mesmerised by it. Julie Andrew's voice is like crack for 2-year-olds.

I believe that someone still hasn't submitted his cover for this. :P (Although, I'd really like to give that song a go. I've only got 5 more months before I can no longer truthfully sing the girl part. I just need a suitable male voice. Hm. I should actually do that soon. Next weekend! :D)

I know somebody who sort of does that. He posts a fairy tale, broken down into individual sentences. People pick sentences and write a song (or a performance of some kind). The songs/etc. are debuted at a live performance of the fairy tale, instead of on a Web site. He's been archiving the performances here, though:

Some really good stuff there.

I re-watched that recently, and the musical was the only part that lived up to my memories of how funny the movie was. "The ugliest man in the universe!" And "He's packing his trunk", etc. So damn good. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tall_Guy

There's some GREAT sidefight ideas in here. I'd love to do an Elvis sidefight, and the TV theme song fight is genius.

My sidefight suggestion: XTC. You could probably pair them up with another band (INXS? Adam Ant?), but I'd be up for doing at least one XTC cover.

Actually, you know what I was just thinking, was that The BeWells should step up and record it. So long as we could divorce ourselves from the fact that they're related.

Man, you come up with some jems. Prima is a blast, indeed. I could do a Louis Prima sidefight, but I really can't swing, so it might be sad.

First, it's quality that matters to me. If I'm not satisfied with the way something is coming together or how it sounds at the deadline, I'm not afraid to pull the plug on it. And the titles either grab me or they don't. More often than not it's the latter.

Second, and for the umpteenth time, I participate in my family. They're infinitely more important to me than making a deadline on a song. Someday, God forbid, you may have children of your own and I would hope you might feel the same way.

Sure, but think of all the time you could free up if you just cut out one extraneous activity from your daily routine...such as, I don't know, submitting posts to complain about everyone else's posts.

And notice too please that you are the one who implied that someone's involvement in a fight (or lack thereof) qualifies or disqualifies them from voicing opinions.

Thanks...you do realize my reference to Louis Prima was to point out the fact that he's King Louis in Jungle Book though, right?

I think it'd still be pretty creepy. You and Lindsay could do a duet though, that wouldn't be creepy at all... :P
