I can't listen to them all right now since my brother has science things to read in this room and he doesnt' want to be disturbed, but it looks like there's some good stuff.

Ok, I've been futzing with the file that I uploaded when I made that post becaues of a couple technical problems. The file that is there now should be fine. Do I lose for being so late?

I think Plat wins. But the lo-fi spoken-word/banjo from marcus is pretty awesome too.

Plat - This song is awesome. Very playful lyrics and the melody is fantastic. Very impressive for an hour's work.

Kellis - I instantly love the banjo. "Ill have you know that's a girl". I'm assuming this was a real dream; it sounds authentic.

JR - Very nice guitar opening. Great melody and vocal performance, good enough to be a regular SF submission. Then the recorder comes in and destroys my ears; somehow it works, though.

FB - Is the Aphex Twin effect intentional? I only ask because BJam did a skirmish once, and had the same thing happen against her will on mixdown. This is another one with a fantastic melody. The lyrics are a pleasant flashback to your Automatic Writing AAD.

Me - I tried to go for a 2 minute song with a full arrangement, but the drums absolutely sucked and I never got to the bass. So you get guitar as the only instrument. This song may or may not be about getting dumped for a much older man. Maybe.

The staticy rhodes and vocals were not intentional. It happened with the rhodes and I thought maybe the mic-in, which I never use, was fucked so I let it slide cuz it sounded kinda cool. But then the same thing happened to the vox. There was no time to troubleshoot. After uploading I discovered it was because I had both Cubase and Fruity Loops open at the same time and Cubase didn't like that.

Live and learn I guess.

I totally wanted a great recorder solo since it seemed to fit the mood, and when it came time to record, I realized I had about one minute left so it was just a huge mess. Whatever. I'll probably just rerecord it someday later. Reviews comin' up.

Kellis - f*ck rapidshare. I hate it and consequently I can't hear your song. If you need some hosting space, i am sure I can set you right.

FB - heh, I do love the effect.

Plat - what is it you sing when it sounds like 'I'm sorry I puked on your confidence'? Which is a great line, btw. The rest is a bit piano-rock for my tastes, but you do it well.

JR - hippy. Nice mix (could do with better mastering perhaps but all present and correct). The song itself is a bit boring, long before the recorder solo, which almost saves it. Yeah, I am well bored by 2.30, although everything is very well played and performed. I just don't like the tune very much. Kudos for the recorder train noises.

Puce - yup. I like the kids tv show theme as punk song idea, although at times it's a bit close to The Jam. 'I'm cookin' your picard/and I'm trying way too hard'? Yuk! This needs more, obviously, but what is there is very good. Except the words - which are a bit stumbly.

It sounds like "I'm sorry I puked on your comforter" to me ... not sure though.

Future Boys vocals are prety harsh. Marcus - what the hell is that Rapidshare crap! I do quite like the song though - once I eventually was allowed to listen to it. Love the opening riff of Puces, and JR - nice work again

I think I would vote for Plat's Ben Foldsishness.

Just so long as you don't start taking comfort puking on SongFighters. Even if they do have it coming.

A bit too late for yesterday's skirmish, but here's a quick take of my Interpret This Dream. I didn't even have the lyrics ready by the time the deadline hit, but figured I might as well do a quick recording once I finished the initial song arrangement last night. Time permitting, I will try to jump in on these and actually finish on time.

Reviews! - By Jolly Roger

Plat - I basically love all your stuff. You probably know that already. I just want to say, constructively, that you should try to avoid letting all your songs sound the same. I definitely like the sound of your stuff, but it's always a bit of a disappointment when the new song sounds just like the last. Just a bit of friendly advice ... from someone far below you musically.

Futureboy - Cool tune. I have a buddy who's really into this type of style. I should let her hear this ... I actually really like it. Normally songs like this bore me, but it has a good driving beat and tune. The effect on your voice is pretty cool too.

Puce - Good song. I'd like to hear what this sounds like with full band and the rest. Just wondering - do you sing with your mouth almost shut? It kind of sounds like that near the start ... I still love the tone of your voice, but it sounds like your holding back on the anounciation near the start. Good stuff.

Marcus Kellis - I wish I could turn up my volume more, since I can't really hear you right now, but even though I can't tell what you're saying, but I like the mood of the song. Reminds me of the stuff they play near the start of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. Good.

Jolly Roger - Once again, I spent almost the whole time writing, and no time recording or mixing. I think this one was definitely more challenging for me to play, what with barre chords, etc. Most of the song was barre chords, actually. I guess that's a measure of improvement for me. It kind of turned out like crap though.

So I think I might have been a bit too harsh considering that this was a skirmish, but I really think that all this stuff was good enough to be put in an actual fight. If it was an actual fight, I'd be all for Plat, unless Puce added drums and more layers to the song. Then it'd be dang close.

Bwells - Cool ... reminds me of Pop Debris, except guy'n guitar. Great tune. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your skirmish work ... this is cool stuff. You use cool chords. I have to eat supper. You don't get any more review.
