My ex-girlfriend's aunt's first husband's brother is this guy. He was in Deliverance, but you probably know him from Robocop, or Beverly Hills Cop. He's played country music for a while now.

As I remember it, The Bad Seeds played in the cemetery and Nick Cave had some silly limes.

Also, that M&M guy. Oh, Marshall Mathers

Elvis Costello made cameos in at least two of the Austin Powers movies and also in Talladega Nights, but he didn't really act in those. He was just there as himself.

Dwight Yoakam has been in quite a few films, the lastest I know of being Wedding Crashers.

Macho Man Randy Savage had an epic rap album dissing the hulkster.

Vanilla Ice was in Ninja Turtles II and Cool as Ice.

Eminem was in 8 Mile

Brenden Behan Wrote and acted in plays, and wrote a few Irish standards, like The Auld Triangle, though I realize that's a stretch.

Not to mention the entire cast of This is Spinal Tap:

Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer all wrote and played their respective parts in the film.

How about dj's? I can certainly see skill involved with serious scratching/crossfading, etc., but your average club dj: is he a musician?

Dj's were talked about as musicians when I worked at GC - most likely to make them happy so they'd buy more lights and fog machines. But since I've been playing live, I've been seeing dj's get gigs at big clubs and just standing at turntables (which aren't being used - he's running everything off his ipod), and moving around with those silly cans on his head.

Seems to me, a dj's job is to look busy.

Aside from being little more than a live jukebox, they often have no concept of eq, and the mixes are either ultra top or bottom-heavy.

Sorry to derail the thread, I just hate dj's.

I'll agree that most DJs that I see around here are behaving in a most unmusical fashion. But DJing can be done in a way that qualifies it as musicianship.

Slightly more on topic: Yeah, rappers and singers are musicians in my book.

Full-on On Topic, finally: Stephen King has appeared in a few movies, and is (was?) a guitarist with the Rock Bottom Remainders, although neither is his primary pursuit, of course.

I saw her front for Queen last year. Which may qualify as an act.

Oh, and Flea has been in several movies like Fear and Loathing and Big Lebowski. I think Keidis and Frusciante have also been in movies. And Chad Smith looks like Will Ferrell, so that's gotta count for something.
