Even though I'm only a lowly newbie poster, I'd still be interested in going. Doubt I'd participate, but I'll gladly watch you all play and... whatnot.

This is the part where we ask you if you have a hot mom and whether or not you would be bringing her. Oh, sisters are good too.

*chuckles* Oh man. No sisters, although my brother has hair to his shoulders, so he looks girly enough.

hey bjam, never mind hoblit. just show up and people will be thrilled.
a very short true story. recently, i played a songfight live event in seattle, with octothorpe and many other fine musicians from songfight. it was a blast, even though it involved driving about 14 hours. each way. later in the evening, after the show was over, ken told me that there was a girl at the show that wasn't a friend of someone, or family, or a songfighter themself. she was just someone who had found out about songfight somehow, had been listening for awhile, and wanted to check it out. didn't know anyone there at all. and that made my night.
bloody friggin hams!

5. Where the instruments/recording gear will come from
6. Suggestions for where people can stay
I agree fully, which is why I'm trying to figure out the answers.

Yeah, but I thought that would be too forward and I have to keep a certain level of crass you know.

Also: Is anybody else feelin' hosting it? I don't know of any Fighters local to Vegas. Blue seems pretty busy, and I don't know that I trust Ken to organize anything bigger than a child's birthday party and with that I'd have reservation. (No, I'm kidding. Ken, speak now or forever hold your peace--be it a proposed SF Live Berk or LV or whatever you're comfortable with if anything.) I think we should probably wait until, you know, five years after the fact or until nobody new is volunteering to revisit Seattle or Austin or Lancaster, and I don't know that many would be excited at the prospect of revisiting Texas or Pennsylvania otherwise. (Washington doesn't really hold much outside of Seattle that's appropriate. Spokane, residence of Glenn Case, is nice, but I don't know that it's the best choice, or has many venues that would make a good host.) I can't personally much get behind NYC or LA right now, though I'd likely attend either one. I think Boise might be a fine place to do such a thing, but it is pretty out-of-the-way for everybody and doesn't have the size or draw of a Boston or Vegas or even Denver. (Denver or Boulder or Arvada or fuckin' whatever might be good too, jefff.)
Seems like everybody's rallied around the idea of Baahhstan, though how much of that is due to it being the exclusive area of much discussion--indeed, the cause for this post--and how much is due to genuine preference, I am unsure. I think Boston would be solid. I dunno, re Berklee. So far the venues and shows have had a pretty laid-back and freewheeling groove (allowing me, for example, to run up on stage during Ken's set and do background vox when he didn't have anybody else doing them) and I don't know if that would be lost at a Berklee stage. That and the caveats of being able to play late, play loud, play uncensored. If there's a place suitable in the Berklee family, then awesome, but if not, I think we'd have to collectively do some deliberation. I mean, a place with seating (or capacity) for more than 200 would be a huge shift from status quo in these things.

There has also long been talk of a mid-west fight. Most probable would be somewhere in Ohio. There are fighters there (at least one) who have shown discipline and dedication in attendance at songfight events.
All we really need is our venue, two bars, a bowling alley, some half-decent non-chain restaurants and a miniature golf course, and we're pretty much set.

If it's gonna be in the middle of nowhere, it should at least be somewhere pretty, like Colorado, or at least an interesting place to visit (like Mississippi (IMO)). Be nice if there was more reason to go there than just SFL.

Dude, the only reason to go to these things IS SFL!!!
I barely saw Seattle, and what I remember of the place is Spud's garage!!!
...it was great.

Hey,
I agree that it is too early to ask someone to commit to a location where this will happen next year. Blue asked me to co-host Las Vegas, which I am still happy to do, but I will probably not organize that one on my own. I am happy to organize this event anywhere in CA if needed. I am also happy to help whomever does end up hosting. PM me know if you are thinking about hosting and have any questions.
Be well,
Ken

...and a ballpark.
I had already been speaking privately to john m about hosting it in the cleveland area. why? rock and roll hall of fame, jacobs field, other stuff (doubt the cleveland orchestra would be around during the summer, but they're awesome). john is playing with a regular band right now, which i think is key b/c they will have venue contacts and whatnot by the time summer rolls around and instruments like drums are already taken care of. also, i can drive there and bring PA and stuff. john has partipated in two (three?) of these things so he knows what needs to be done. and i (and jbb) are close enough to help out. so anyway, i don't mean to put john m on the spot, but i like ohio for this summer.

Adjuster, JOS, PUCE, Jack Shite, Ken, Gelnn Case, et all in attendance? Tiny little theatre.. bartender that poured double and a half gin and tonics?

No, we're talking about THE songfight! LIVE
There was Songfight! LIVE Wet & Wild in Seattle a couple of years ago... I lost a $5 bet to 15-16 puzzle because I suck at baseball bets. J.Shite, I'll get you your $20 as soon as I pay off my mob debt.
